Top 5 Times wrestlers Broke Fan illutions.
Warning.
In this article. I will be discussing themes of Sexual Misconduct. Coersive Control. Racism, and. Child Murder, reader discretion is advised.
Intro.
Wrestling is a miriad art form, that manages to engage with audiences, and leave fans wanting more. The right match can leave you feeling flawed in the best way, whilst others can leave an endlible mark on you, that makes you want to come back to this art form, time, and, time again, however, the industry isn't all strawberries and skittles. The industry has a darkside, that often gets shelved and put away, and not spoken about, but I feel that these conversations are important, because in order to be human, we have to act human. It's really not that difficult.
5 Stone Cold Steve Austin.
As a kid growing up. I was a massive fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin. And I still am to this day. When you're a kid, the idea of your idol doing something horrible to another person, is inconceivible, but this happened in September of 2002, when Austin, was arrested on charges of domestic Violence. Even though I'm a fan of steve's. I don't condone violence against women, but I do think that there's good in everyone, and it's up those who have done this to others, to find it in themselves to become a better man.
4 The Fabulous Moolah.
As a wretling historian. I was suprised to learn about the awful alligations surrounding. The Fabulous Moolah, that came out nearly 10 years after her death, from not paying the talent that she managed, to hiding very serious assaults. In 2018 in WWE were going to have a Womens Battle Royale, named after her at Wrestlemania 34 but due to fan backlash, these plans were changed, and it was the right decision. When things like this surface, sensitivity, needs to be the overall concensus.
3 Hulk Hogan.
I don't know where to begin with Hulk Hogan. I get that some people, still hold him in high regards, but to me, he's a lying awful human being, that shows no respect towards ethnic minorities. I have no other words.
2 Macho Man Randy Savage.
Randy Savage is one of my favourite wrestlers of all time, his matches are well planned masterpieces into the land of escapism, but in the 1980's when he was at the epitath of his career, his behaviour towards his then manager, and real life wife. Ms Elizabeth, could nowadays be looked at, as problematic. As the years have gone Coersive Control cases have become more disturbing, and frequent. Now I must ad that this is alleged, but it still leaves a nasty taste in the mouth of many fans, if this is true.
1 Chris Benoit.
As a fan growing up watching Pro wrestling. I never thought that someone could do something so Evil, but, as some people say. Ignorance is bliss, and the importance of youth, is something that can't be underestimated. On the date of June 24th. The Bodies of Chris's wife Nancy, and their young son Daniel, were found at the Benoit home. Chris was also found dead, he had killed his wife, and, son, and then took his own life. Now when I was researching this list. There was a lot of detail, that I couldn't commit to article, due to the graphic nature of what he did. I do feel that the lifestyle that Chris led, the normalcy of how cte was treated at this point, and the tragic events of the past few years, all had a hand in what led to this awful outcome. I have no doubts that what he did was evil. Daniel would be in his twenties today, but the person who's supposed to protect him, let him down, in the worst way possible. Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child. Life is precious people, don't take it for granted.
