The Everlasting Shadows Of Wrestling

Intro

In 1997 an incident in Pro wrestling, would shake the foundations of the industry as we know it, the incident in question was called The Montreal screwjob. Loyalty. Greed, and. Good vs Evil, were the themes that came to light in the documentary Wrestling With Shadows, a film made by the Canadian production Company High Road, and directed by Paul Jay, this started out as a normal career profile piece, but what unfolded, was, a morality play, as all the prior themes took centre stage.

Summer Of 1996

Production started in the summer of 1996, and at this time. WCW had started its near 2 year reign at the top of the tv ratings, as the Monday Night Wars was starting to intensify, The WWF at the time was coming off the back of a disasterous 1995, controversies, and contradictions, were married together at this point, and the tv show ratings had gone backwards. Times were changing, and Vince Mcmahon was struggling to keep up, so in order to stay relavent, he had to rely on parts of his old roster, whilst putting the focus on new stars. Bret The Hitman Hart, was a stallwart of The WWF's New Generation, gone were the days of the tired acts of the 1980's, and in their place, wrestlers that were younger and more polished. Bret Hart was the leader of this movement, and as time wore on, Mcmahon would become more reliant on him, and. Shawn Michaels, this would cause friction, and eventually a full blown, non keyfabe, hatetred. That years Wrestlemania, would see Shawn, over go Bret in a 60 minute Iron Man match, the build was centred around their mutual hatred of each other, and how their competitive edge, had spiralled out of control.

1997

They're feud continued into 1997, and the cameras caught this perfectly, from Shawns Sunny Days promo, and a smile. The effects of that would be felt when Bret got home, and he was asked by members of his own family, are you having an affair with Tammy Sych aka Sunny. Bret at this point felt that Shawn had crossed the line.

Legends As Fathers Dont Always Mix

Stu Hart, was a wrestling promoter, who had made his name working in the Canadian market. He at a young age, got into wrestling, when he fell in with a group of shooters. As a child. Stu had been in and out of care, the film examined Brets fears, from his childhood, as Stu would train hopefuls at their house, Owen. Brets younger brother, at one point when he was a child, went down to the famed dungeon, and recorded men, as they were made to cry like little children. Stu wanted all of his sons to go into Wrestling, and he wanted his daughters to marry Wrestlers, this would be something that annoyed his wife, who openly said that she wasn't a fan of the business. Bret wanted to study film at college, but when his dad needed him, he stepped up, and went to work for his dad.

Montreal Or Bust

In the months leading up to the 1997 Survivor Series, Bret had become Champion at that years Summerslam, by defeating The Undertaker, thanks to Shawn Michaels. WCW at this point had already seen WWF Stallwarts. Kevin Nash. Scott Hall. Hulk Hogan, and. Randy Savage amongst others, jump ship, and go to work for the competition in the years prior, the strain was still being put on the WWF's young stars at the time. Shawn was self medicating himself, and his issues with Bret were escalating. Roughly about a month before Survivor Series. Vince Mcmahon told Bret, that he was going to be cancelling their deal. The Cameras caught this, as he broke the news to his then wife Julie, his confliction, and distain for how things came to an end, wasn't nice to watch. He spoke about how he felt that the product, had become more sexually orientated, and its suitability for kids was starting to wain on a global level. Bret refused to keep his mouth shut, about how down the barrel the company had gone. As the end of October had come around, news that Bret was leaving had leaked, and fans were starting to show their opinions. Bret, and. Shawns relationship, was at a all time low. Shawn, was booked to face Bret, at that years Survivor Series, the intensity of their rivalry, was something that had become national news in Canada. Months before this. Bret had been offered a contract by Eric Bischcoff, to go and work for turners organisation, but nothing came from it, at that point. The 5th of November came around, and the film focused on how why this was his last night, because at one point. Bret was told by Vince, that it would financial suicide if he stayed with him. They agreed how the match would play out, and that he could go out anyway he wanted, but he had to drop the belt to Shawn in Montreal, Bret said no, and this would cause a rift between him and Vince, whilst putting handcuffs on Mcmahon, because he feared that if Bret showed up on WCW television with his Championship. It could spell the end for his company. The match, was what it was, and when  the bell rung at the end. The industry had changed forever.

The Match

The Match got underway, you wouldn't be able tell that a double cross was underfoot, the evening before Vince Mcmahon, had a meeting in his hotel room, with HHH. Shawn Michaels, and the creative team, and even though the details are a bit sketchy, but I believe this was when screwjod plan got into action. The physicality that was on display didn't echo any issues, which if you watch with naked eyes, you wouldn't see it coming. The last exchanges of match, felt like a heated exchange, and I was right, Shawn put Bret in his own move the sharpshooter, and at that point you could hear referee Earl hebner shout. Ring the bell. Bret heard everything, and he knew, they screwed him, he was enraged, and the images of him smashing up WWF tv equipment, and Bret gesturing the initials WCW in the air, would put an end to one of  Pro Wrtestlings best Characters, this was echoed in the final moments of the documentary

Career Counteractions

The aftermath of the screwjob saw both men, go down differant paths. Bret joined WCW, and his career suffered as a result, he would be under used, and after his brothers death, he reflected on what he wanted to do with his life, 1999 would be his last year as a professional, as he would have to retire in the year 2000, after he received a superkick from Bill Goldberg, at Starcade in december of 1999, he would suffer a stroke 3 years later, doctors would never clear. Shawn Michaels however, would have to retire in 1998, after he suffered a serious back injury, he would make a comeback 4 years later, and  would go on to serve the WWE fans for another 8 years. He retired in 2010. Both men later on reconciled before this.

Documentary legacy

Wrestling With Shadows was released in the year 2000, and it unearthed the truth that most fans thought of Vince Mcmahon, whilst others thought that he was protecting his investment, in my opinion, this is vital viewing for new, and old fans, because it lays bare the issues of the industry that goes hand in hand, with any shakespherian novel. Lies. Greed, and. Good vs Evil.

I wasn't able to do a Monday Night Raw review this week, so given the fact that Bret is on the show, i thought i'd pivert, and do something differant.

My Top 5 Takeaways From AEW All Out 2024

Intro

In my opinion, the word cinema is an overblown expression, used to entice fans, and cause tribalism amongst certain fan groups, to become a toxic proximity, when in arguments. This is especially true amongst wrestling fans. A  good wrestling match, just like a scene in a film, has the ability to hit you in the head, and make you think, and in your heart, causing you to feel a cathartic rush of emotions. I recently attended AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, and even though i'm not the most emotional of wrestling fan. I was stunned into crying at the sight of Bryan Danielson beating Swerve Strickland, to become AEW World Heavyweight Champion, the sight of him celebrating with his family, as the confetti rained down, left me feeling stunted. Fast forward, two weeks, and AEW is in Chicago for All Out, and as I get into my views of this show, you will see just how important emotion is in Pro Wrestling.

5 No Chris Jericho

Ok. I have to say it. Chris Jericho, was no wear near this card, and you know what. Good. Over the past year, when alligations about Chris came to light. I soured on him, to the point of no return. I think it was refreshing to not have him clogging up space on this card.

4 The Young Bucks Always Turn Up At All In

I love The Young Bucks, just as much as I love Cm Punk, from their 2021 classic against the Lucha Bros, to their fight with that muffin munching Ice Cream Bar lover, all the way to this year, and their match against Wheeler Yuta, and. Claudio Castagnoli, for the Tag Team Championships, some people have pointed this as a low point on the card, and I don't agree, because when you dig beneath the surface, this sets up what is to come further down the line. Wheeler looked conflicted, whilst Claudio sold his anger perfectly in defeat.

3 Nightingale And Statlander Stole The Show

After I watched this match, I made the rookie mistake of looking to see what the discourse was on X, and I was horrorified. Some fans called it barbaric, whilst others showered it with praise, and in my opinion. This was one of my matches of the year, both ladies worked, and thought out, a brilliant mental game of chess. Tribalism is an ugly thing, like I said earlier.

2 Will Osperay vs Pac AEW International Championship

Even though I thought the womens match was better. This. Is also another match of the year contender. I get the fact that Will loves Collecting match of the year honours, as much he loves 5 star ratings from Dave Meltzer, but this was ridiculous. Pac was a great foil, as his energy helped put Will over, and made himself look like a badass in defeat. I loved this match.

1 Visceral Violence In Pro Wrestling Storytelling

I have my thoughts on both main events, even though one wasn't official. Anyone who knows me, knows that my favourite film is A Clockwork Orange, and there's a scene in the film, in which after Alex has been arrested for murder of the artist, he has a meeting with his phychiatrist, who informs that he's now a murderer, and that he hopes his guilt tourments him to madness, that's exactly what Hangman Adam Page, and. Swerve Strickland did to one anther, but instead of being led on by the tretchery of others, they were both led on, by their own greed, and obsession, and it made for a sick cathartic match, that was just as much gripping, as it was horrific. This. Is. Yet, another match of the year contender. And then we come to Bryan Danielson, and how his Bcc Brethryn turned on him, I felt this was reminiscent of the home invasion scene, Claudio, used the tactic of trust. Yuta was held back, whilst. Jon Moxley morphed into Alex Delarge, and did the unthinkable. AEW have since censored the bag spot, due to the graphic nature of how it all unfolded, personally. I think you've done this to save face, to avoid any copycat incidents, and threats to those involved. Mimicking why Stanley Kubrick masterpiece, was banned in the UK for 29 years, seeing a limited cinema release in the year 2000, followed by a vhs, and, dvd release, art most definately imitates life.

 WWE Smackdown Review 7.9.2024

Intro

This past week has been interesting, Odyssey Jones was let go by WWE, after alligations of Domestic Violence surfaced on X, and one of my favourite bands of all time. Linkin Park, are back, with a new front woman, and a man committed arson on live tv. Yeah, this week has been interesting. One other thing guys, this week their won't be a Monday Night Raw review, this is due to my schedule in my day job, so I've got something special on the way for you guys, about Bret The Hitman Hart. You guys know I hate this. So when this happens. I will do my best to give you guys something differant. Because it's you guys, that keep me driving forwards.

Superstars Seen Showing Up

Bayley. Cody Rhodes, and that absolute piece Giovanni Vinci, were all seen showing up to the venue.

Cody Rhodes Segment

I love this man. Cody came out, and basked in the admiration of the fans, he put over Kevin Owens, and praised the fact that Michael Cole, is back Smackdown, and then he cut straight to business, and said that he's giving an invitation to The Bloodline. Solo came out, with his gaggle of P*****, and he  and Cody had a great promo dual. Solo asked is Cody done, because Solo would be champion if it wasn't for his cousin Roman, he then told Cody, he wants a rematch. Cody agreed that he deserves a rematch, but he was looking past him, and offered it to Jakub Fatu, but out of loyalty, he took a step backwards, this was Cody's master stroke, because this played with Solo's head. Cody then made the challenge for next week. Solo Sikoa vs Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. The rest of The Bloodline tried to step in, but they were met by DIY, and. The Street Profits, there opponents in an 8 Man Tag Match later on. Nick Aldis then came out, and told both teams, that if there is any physicality, then they will be fined, he then said he agrees with Cody, that the issue surrounding the numbers game is bothering him as well, so next week on the Debut on the USA Network, it will be. Solo Sikoa vs Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Universal Championship, inside a Steel Cage. I liked all of this. Also Nick Aldis, has got his work cut out for him, I mean he booked Chelsea Green in a match against Michin. That poor man.

Tiffany Stratton Segment

Tiffany Stratton was backstage, being pampered by Pretty Deadly, when Nia Jax walked in, and she looked pissed, and she asked Tiffany, did she try and cash in on her last week, to which Tiffany said, and the person who was spreading this miss information, had to be Chelsea Green. I think we've found a possible new career for Pretty Deadly, if wrestling doesn't work out. Make Up Artists, Tiffany would go on to beat Bayley in a decent tv match.

Atown Down Under Segment

Ok, note to self, never ever insult the Edmonton Oilers, because Kevin Owens doesn't like it, but he hates. Atown Down Under even more, he got them in a triple threat match against him later on, and he beat this pair of morons easily.

Apollo Crews vs Giovanni Vinci

Apollo Crews, beat, that absolute piece Giovanni Vinci by roll up, when he couldn't his gear off quick enough, and at this point, everyone women in the crowd, broke out into sweets.

LA Knight Segment

LA Knight then dropped a great promo, and he was in a vibrant mood, he said that he's hit and quit it on two title defences, in two continents, and now everyone is gunning for his belt, but no one will leave with it, from incells to part timers, they've all had a go, but Knights the champ. Carmelo Hayes came  out, and called out Knight for running his mouth, he said that he has two wins over andrade. Knight saw past and said this, and that he's more concerned about winning, whilst Knight is concerned about who's coming for him, which is why he's the champ. Andrade came out, and reminded Hayes, that he also has two wins on him, whilst reminding Knight, that he also used to be champ, A fight broke out, and Knight hit both men with his BFT finisher. Knight said at one point, that he dosen't understand a word that came out of Andrade's mouth, this could easily bring down the tone, of what was a decent segment.

Chelsea Green vs Michin

Chelsea Green, beat. Michin in a flat tv match, that offered absolutely nothing.

8 Man Tag Match DIY and The Street Profits vs The Bloodline

I liked all of this. The match had a solid flow to it, as the physicality, and energetic bursts from both teams, allowed the story to be told, The Bloodline got the win, and now, next weeks Smackdown is a must watch.

Overview Of Smackdown

In the words of one of my favourite bands ACDC. I was ready for a good time, coming into this weeks Smackdown, and that's what I got, the in ring was solid, and the promos ranged from questionable good, to great.

This weeks Smackdown is a solid 8/10.

AEW Dynamite Review

Intro

This Sunday i'm cancelling all my plans, yes that's right, no end of Summer BBQ at my friends house for me, because AEW All Out is going to be fire. LITERALLY. I'm buzzing to get into this review.

Daniel Garcia Segment

Daniel Garcia started off the show, and he was a firery mood, he wasted no time in calling MJF. Max then appeared in the fans, and said that on Saturday at the PPV, he's going to have no execuses when he beats Daniel, because he doesn't attack people from behind, and he doesn't cheat. Daniel Called out his hypocrisy, by attacking his looks, and his fake love for the business. Max then says that he wants to shut him up, and make him suffer, whilst Daniel takes Max on a trip into the future. This angered Max, who retaliated, in the only way he knows how, sex shaming Daniels Mum. Daniel went on the hunt for Max, he took out security, and was then glassed by Max. Max threatens to send him to paradise, because he has two tickets, excellent guitar riff. I liked all of this.

The Conglomeration Segment

I found something out whilst watching this segment. I have something in common with my Jack Russell puppy Jane, we both love Mark Briscoe, she got all fired up, just watching him. Agh bless.

Kazuchika Oakda vs Kyle Fletcher Continental Crown

I loved this opening match, from its fast pace, the physicality being well timed, and the near falls, allowing every burst of energy from both men, to tell the story. Okada got the win with a low blow, and a rainmaker in the knick of time. This. Was fantastic.

Swerve Strickland Segment

Swerve Strickland last week signed a contract exstension, and as a reward for himself, he bought his childhood home, he showed us around, and told stories, about how he grew up. This. Was nice. It was like watching a backwards episode of Cribs, now. I wonder if it has a fire place.

Jamie Hayter vs Robyn Renegade

Yeah, this was, what it was. Jamie Hayter, beat. Robyn Renegade in a squash match. Saraya watched on.

Roderick Strong vs Hook FTW Championship

Hook vs Roderick Strong, for the FTW Championship at some point, oh go then AEW, if you must.

Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir

Jon Moxley, and. Marina Shafir walked from the backstage area, having decked people, they dumped into The Elite, and. Moxley praised Jack Perry, they then walked to the ring, and. Mox cut a promo that went like this. I hope you're watching Darby Allin. I want to kill you Darby Allin. And, well that's it.

Orange Cassidy Segment

Chris Jericho,as it turns out is pissed off with Orange Cassidy, for wrecking his £7.0000 dollar Suite 7 years ago, you know the one that made him look like a member of Liverpool 1996 FA Cup Final team. Cassidy will face Brian Keith on Collision this week.

Marieh May vs Nyla Rose AEW Womens Championship.

Marieh May, beat. Nyla Rose to retain her AEW Womens Championship, in a decent tv match.

Deonna Purrazzo Segment

Deonna Purrazzo said that she's having a reset, and will face Shida on Collision.

Mercedes Mone Segment

Mercedes Mone came out, and cut a promo on her opponent this Saturday. Hikaru shida, she humiliated her, and told her that, there's a price to pay, when you mess with Mone. Shida then showed up on the screen, she can't beat the ace, without Camille, in stepped the fake Adam Pearce. Christopher Daniels, said that Camille is banned from ringside, for their TBS Championship match at the PPV. Sayonara indeed.

Orange Cassidy Kyle O'reilly and Will Osperay vs The Pacpool Combat Club

Bryan Danielson joined the commentary desk for this match, and it was awesome, the physicality was off the charts, the matches within the match, sold the story of what was to come perfectly. The Pacpool Combat Club got the win. Danielson came down to celebrate with his friends, but he was attacked from behind, by. The Elite, who earlier in the evening said, that they would do everything they could, to help Jack win the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, Perry was stopped by Claudio, who then called out The Bucks, telling them to put their Championships on the line at All Out. Danielson took the mic, and said to perry, that everyone is sick of him, and he's going to kick his head in, no wait sorry, he said he's going to kick his f****** head in, that's better. Pac was then battering Osperay backstage, sending him a clear message, see on Saturday William. All of this was awesome. But what came next, is one of the best angles I have ever seen.

Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland Contract Signing

I have been a wrestling fan for nearly over 30 years, and this is one of the best go home segments, that i've ever seen. Swerve Strickland was out first, but Hangman was a no show, they played his entrance music twice, but he showed on the big screen walking into Swerve's house, he cut an intense promo, on the importance of family, and the repocussions of life, which spells out an eye for an eye, he then proceeded to pour petrol in Swerve's property, he walked into the garden, he sat down in Swerve's dads chair, he sipped on some whiskey, and lit the match, and watched Swerve's house go up in flames. Swerve was beside himself, as he cried in tourment. The Anger from both is going to go off, and it will seap out of every bloodstained mark on the canvas this Saturday. A Steel Cage won't be able to hold them, this needs to be unsanctioned.

Overview Of AEW Dynamite

This. Was an exceptional piece of Pro Wrestling Broadcasting, excellent matches, and phenomanal go home segments. I loved this show.

This. Is the best Dynamite of the year, and an easy 10/10.

Top 5 AEW Moments

Intro

In the past 5 years, AEW has carved it self a niche in the market of Pro Wrestling. From epic debuts. Emotional shows, and moments, and movements that will stay with fans, far beyond the annual PPV Circle. What can I say, other than, this company, are the reason why I love waking up early on a Thirsday Morning. This is my top 5 AEW moments. So far.

5 it's Stiiiiiiiing

2020's winter is coming, was one hell of a show, from the title change, that saw Kenny Omega overthrow Jon Moxley, as the. World Heavyweight Championship. Wardlow continuing to make a name for himself, and of course, the return to wrestling, from a five year absence of Sting, this was a monumental moment, because Sting was back on the TNT network, for the first time in over nineteen years, and when we walk back through the anals of time, this very nearly didn't happen, due to an injury, that he suffered an injury match against Seth Rollins. It was like travelling back in time, to a more simpler time.

4 RIP Brodie Lee

On the 26th of December 2020, the world was saddened to hear of the news, that Brodie Lee had passed away. The following episode of Dynamite Storylines were dropped, as remembering a loved one took centre stage. The sight of Tony Khan hugging Negative one, is something that I will never forget. Enough said.

3 A Boom Becomes a Dragon

All Out 2021 is considered one the company's best ever PPV's, and if i'm being honest, I can see why, but it was what happened at the end of show that had the internet buzzing. Kenny Omega took to the mic, after he beat christian Cage for the World Heavyweight Championship, he said that anyone can come back, even if there dead, which was a reference, harpering back to his days in ROH, making his Being The Elite series, and the episode in question, featured a death that go on to become undisputed. Adam Cole, would walk out, the night before, he faced Kyle O'reilly, at NXT 36 Takeover in Orlando, but things were about to get interesting, because with seconds left of the PPV out walked. Bryan Danielson, and my fantasy booking brain went into overdrive.

2 Easter Eggs Turn Into Ice Cream Bars

The 1st Dance, was a groundbreaking success, from the formation being layed out bare, to the out crying of emotion, when an Ice Cream bar loving Muffin Chomper, made his return to the wrestling industry, that took so much from him. I think it's safe to say, that I'm a mark for Cm Punk.

All In London 2023 Announcement

It was the week after a controversial Wrestlemania, and the world was still recovering from what they had seen. WWE had shown it's hand, by giving fans a badly received end to night 2 of mania, and a poorly received Raw after Mania. A couple of days after this, it was AEW's turn to shake up the world, and, well they did. I woke up on a Thursday morning, I turned on the wrestling news from google, and my first thoughts screamed. NO WAY. AEW WAS RUNNING WEMBLEY STADIUM, NOT ARENA. STADIUM, my jaw hit the ground, and I thought, nah this can't be true, but it was. They were running Wembley, and I couldn't believe it. I don't care about the attendences, because it doesn't matter, because the only people that won hear, wear the fans. I've attended both outings so far.

My Top 5 TV Influences, and how I think they merge with Pro Wrestling

Intro

Every writer has their own influences, in the world of Pro wrestling, some people look at the likes of Stu Sacks. Dave Meltzer, and. Brian Alvarez, but some like myself, at a young age, were captivated by tv shows that they grew up with. I think tv has counteracted in the zeitgeist of Pro Wrestling, for decades, and these are some of my inspirations.

5 Buffy The Vampire Slayer

In the verse of my inspirations, this is high on the list. The build behind the Scooby Gang is something, that has been adapted by Pro Wrestling, especially in recent years. How has this been a influence on me? The Storylines were groundbreaking, from the LGBTQ+ representation, which at the time in the late 1990's, this was lacking in Sci Fi Horror tv, to the never ending grasp that the show has had, from it's sharp writing, to its daring attitude, that spoke to fans, young, and old at the time. Wrestling has always had this ability, because lets be honest. It always has us coming back for more.

4 EERIE INDIANA

As Pro wrestling fans, we're a bunch, that love the unexplained, like what was the basis behind Jake Roberts love for Snakes. Who Slapped Kevin Owens with a pie. And what was in. He Who Shall Not Be Named's box. EERIE INDIANA, is a perfect example of this. I love this show, as a fan of Sci Fi tv. It still holds up to this day, the unexplained is something, that has always had my attention. The dialogue at a young age, made me wonder. what it would be like if  I worked in television as a career when I was older? I was thinking like this at the age of 11. This Shows Influence, may not be felt today, but to me it was vital in my development.

3 My So Called Life

This show is the most honest portrayal of teenage life, ever put on tv. Now I know what your thinking, What does a teen show have in common with Pro Wrestling? Well, It's honesty. I feel that in the early stages of AEW, their was a sense of freedom, that hasn't been a thing in Pro Wrestling at the time, for over 20 years. Honesty was seaping into the industry, as fans were taken on a ride of great storytelling, that was navigated by Tony Khan, in a way that in my opinion, echoed the same path of Angela Chase, the shows main protagonist, played by Clare Danes. My writing has been heavily influenced by this show, and it remains an influence on teenage television to this day. The wrestling industry can learn lessons from this show.

2 Sons Of Anarchy

This is one of my favourite tv shows of the past 20 years. I feel it's influence has been massive on The Bloodline, from Romans uprising, to his grooming of his own family, and Sami Zayn. This was a mirror Image. In Sons, the main character was Jax Teller, a man who was conflicted with the elements of his own family, and him wanting to change the dynamic, and in the verse of WWE, There's Roman Reigns, who at the time was a parasite who wanted to hold a grasp of control on his own faction. Jax Teller is Jey Uso, and. Sami Zayn, to men who tried to act like the moral compass of the family, whilst Roman was Clay Morrow, a man who was hell bent on grooming his gang into his own form of thinking. The writing of this show, to me is a stallwart in the way tv is produced, and how wrestling is influenced by the Drama.

1 The Simpsons

If you're the head of a company, that produces weekly tv, then you need to take some form of influence from The Simpsons. It is one of the most well observed tv shows ever, how does this mesh with Pro Wrestling? In the 1990's The Simpsons was a ratings powerhouse across the globe, and the controversy it was caused, would be felt. Parent groups hated it, as modern culture was moving, and changing in order to keep up with the times. The then WWF's Attitude Era latched on to this, and it would pay off heavily. The Monday Night Wars was a time period in Pro Wrestling history, that would see one company's demise, and another regain their dominance, the career counteractions provided the evidence, because controversy created cash.

Monday Night Raw Review

Warning

In the Intro I will be talking about the issue of domestic Violence, reader discretion is advised.

Intro

As I write this on a Tuesday evening, news has just come out about the real why Odyssey Jones, was removed from the WWE online roster, and this sparked of doubt amongst fans. At this point I must stress that this is a rumour, and this is an ever growing story, but, at this time, it seems like he might be gone from the company, after allegations of Domestic Violence came to light. I'm actually stunned. If he's done what he's been accused of, then he shouldn't work in the business ever again, and if these rumours aren't true, then were does he go from here. It's a tricky predicament. Just for the record. I don't condone violence against women at all. Anyone man who hits a women, isn't a man. I just think we need a bit more info. If you've been affected by Domestic Violence, then if you live in the UK, you can call Refuge on 0808 2000 247, and if you live in the United States, you can call The National Domestic Hotline on 1 503-236-5600. Global services in your region should also be able to help.

New Announcer

Wade Barrett kicked off the show, by introducing Joe Tessitore, our new play by play announcer on Monday Nights. I think he had a great first night.

Superstars showing

Gunther. Cm Punk, and. Our new Tag Team Champions. Bianca Belair, and. Jade Cargill, were all seen showing up to the arena.

Rhea Ripley Segment

Rhea Ripley came out, and welcomed us to Monday Night Mami, she boasted with joy, about how everything went down on Saturday Night, and she's not done with The Human Oven, and. Mullet Chaser, or. The Judgement Day, and challenged her to a match for her belt. The Human Oven walked out, and told Rhea that His Chicken Tenders loving partner in crime isn't here tonight, because she was recovering from Jetlag. ( and the rest ) He tells Rhea, that His girlfriend will face her anytime, any place. Rhea said that she's beaten her once, and she will do it again, Rhea calls The Oven stupid in Spanish. The Mullet Chaser comes out, and attacks Rhea, and she gets caught in the ring ropes. Priest came out to make the save, and. The Human Oven, and his girlfriend. The Mullet Chaser ran off. I had a lot of fun watching this. This would act as a through show storythread. Rhea would help set up a tag match for the main event. Say it with me everyone. Yeet.

American Made vs The Alpha Academy

American. American. American Made f*** yeah. Alpha Academy your time is through, and now they have to answer to. American Made, f*** yeah. American Made beat. The Alpha Academy, when Ivy Nile, put. Maxxine dupri in a submission hold. Chad Gable, then took to the mic, and called out The Wyatt Sick, and challenged them to a 8 man tag Street Fight, next week. Uncle Howdy stepped out on the stage, and gave a touching speech, in the shade of his brother Bray, and accepted the match, as he was joined by his army of the lost, to end the segment.

Zelina Vega vs Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler, beat. Zelina Vega, in a terrible tv match, that offered nothing to me, she was then beaten down in the aftermath, and. Sonya Deville had me putting my fingers in my ears, and saying the words la la la la i'm not listening, because her promo, afterwards as her gaggle of ladies took over, was awful. Shout to that fan that paid tribute Zelina's dad, who passed away in 9/11 terror attack, you my fellow fan, are an angel sent from the heavens. Lyra Valkyria tried to make the save, but she got taken out. I'm having nightmares of badly performed sharpshooters.

Cm Punk Segmet

I loved this segment. Punk came out, and he was bursting at the seems, he was pleased to be in Denver, as the toughness of his match on Saturday, against Drew Mcintyre was now in the rearview mirror, he was to do business, because he's a business man, and he wants the man who took Randy Orton to the edge, he wants. Gunther, he wants the World Champion. So he can get used to hearing Cult Of Personality. Punk revelled in the fans adjulation, and as quick as he got on the desk, who was brought back down to earth, when Drew Mcintyre attacked him. Wade Barrett tried to stop him, but this didn't work. Officials came out to stop him, but they came up short. Punk got stretchered out of the building, and when he was about to be lifted into the ambulance, Drew attacked again, and this time officials managed to get him away, This. Was. Brilliant. I got real Austin, and. Bret Hart vibes from this.

The Human Oven vs Dragon Lee vs Ilja Dragunov IC Tournament

This. Was, a decent tv match, that had a good balance of fun, shenanigans, and physicality. Dragunov got the win, this, if you ask me, was the best he's looked in a while, on the main roster. Adam Pearce was backstage, and he was trying to get someone for the next round, to replace Bronson Reed, who had been taken down by Covid. Braun Strowman stepped forward, he was selling his ribs, and injuries that he sustained last week, in that awesome spot. Adam cleared him, and he went on to beat. Sheamus, and. Ludwig Kaiser, thanks to Sheamus getting hit by Pete Dunne with a shalaleigh.

Damage Ctrl vs Unholy Alliance

Bianca Belair, and. Jade Cargill, sat at ringside for no1 contenders match, and I don't know what to think about it. Something just felt off, from the word go. Iyo Sky took a nasty looking dump to the outside, that could very aesily gone south. Fyre and Dawn won, this was a disaster.

Kofi Kingston Segment

Kofi wants to get him and Xavier a shot at the Tag Team Championships, Ok then WWE if you must.

Gunther Segment

On Saturday WWE smashed their own arena gate record, and it was all because of Gunther. He revelled in his own pride, as he beat the best version of Randy orton, he portrayed his rise to the top, as historic. Sami Zayn then came out, to rain on his parade, he has echoed the same route as Gunther, to get to the top. IC to the main belt, just like some of the greats including. Macho Man Randy Savage. Bret Hart, and. Stone Cold Steve Austin. Gunther counteracted this perfectly, by calling Sami, a loser, and an underdog that people love, but in all honesty, when they stepped forward, he stepped backwards. Gunther refused a championship match against Sami. Playing the game of history, worked as Sami reminded Gunther, that he's the only man to have beaten him on the main roster. Sami Zayn is the definition of that 90s song I Get knocked Down, But I Get Up Again. I for got its real title. Gunther can't run and hide.

Bron Breakker Segment

I got real Goblin King from Labrynth vibes from this segment. Turn Back Jey, don't go after Rhea.

Damian Priest and Jey Uso vs Finn Balor and JD Mcdonagh

Damian and Jey, got the win, against. Finn Balor, and. JD Mcdonagh in a fun tv match filled with shenanigans, but, this is. The Judgement Days umpteenth loss in a matter of weeks, and it's starting to get a bit boring.

Overview Of Monday Night Raw

I don't know what make of this weeks Raw. It had some good stuff on it, but the rest, well i'm not sure about.
