Aew Dynamite Review 2.5.2024
Intro
Agh yes. The Road to. Double Or Nothing. Over the past few years. I have enjoyed the build to this event, and so far, things are looking good. The Elites Succession esc protocols are proving to be a great story device, and all of the ramifications from that, which could have devastaing consequences, and exciting promise, over the next few months. This. Is, going to be great viewing, and I can't wait to see everything unfold.
Tony Khan Introduction
Tony Khan tried to give an update on his health, live from the Jacksonville Jaguars headquarters, but before he could mention. The Elite. Matthew, and. Nicholas took over, and cut his feed. They explained, that he can't fire them, because of a claws in their contract, and from this point on, they would be taking over the show. Renee Paquette, interviewed The Elite later on in the show. Matthew, and. Nicholas stepped aside, so that. Jack Perry could explain his actions for last week. He put over the fact that Tony Khan used him as a sacrifice, which brought forward his scapegoat persona, huh, sacrifice. Jack Perry, is clearly a Creed fan. This. Would. Be act as great storythread, that would run throughout the show. I loved all of this.
Swerve Strickland segment
I loved all of this. Swerve spoke from the heart, and it was great to see. Strickland spoke from the heart, saying his actions over the past week, are that of a true fighting Champion. He called out The Elite, saying what they did last week was a bitch move. Matthew, and. Nicholas, then appeared on screen, and told him who his Number one contender will be. Christian Cage came out, he proceeded to cut Swerve down to this, whilst levelling up some lst, based on revenge, and humiliation. Cage, and his family, then attacked Swerve. Cage stood over Strickland whilst delivering his words. Nana took a good chunk of the abuse.
Adam Copeland vs Bubby Matthews
I didn't like this. I thought it was slow, and lethargic. Copeland retained his belt, but what came next was even more farsical. Copeland attacked Matthews, with a steelchair, but, before he was about to give him a concerto. The lights went out, and when they came back on. Malakai Black was standing their taunting copeland, with Matthews joining in. Later in the evening. Kyle O'reilly was seen eyeing up Copelands Championship.
Samoa Joe vs Isiah Cassidy
Samoa Joe wrecked Isiah Cassidy, in a short tv match. This. Was. Decent, but not great, because to me this says, that. Aew have no plans for Joe.
Skye Blue segment
Skye Blue, then said that she wants a shot at. Willow Nightingale TBS Championship. Willow would later on answer this, oh and one other thing. Can I please have more Stokeley Hathaway on my tv please.
Orange Cassidy segment
I liked all of this. It's rare that Orange Cassidy gives promos, but when he does, it feels like a real treat, and this was no differant, however it was tinged with a sad thread of reality. He spoke from the heart, as he dug in deep, when telling us fans, that, due to Chucks injury that he sustained during the Parking Lot Brawl, he has been told that his wrestling career is over, he then called out. Trent Barretta. But. Trent cut him off, calling him selfish, and an attention seeker. Cassidy took this to heart, and went for Trent. A team load of security came out to seperate them, and just as Cassidy was about to leave, out came. Damn Don Callis, who took him away. This. Is. Very promising. Heel Cassidy. Yes please.
Chris Jericho vs Katsuyori Shibata FTW Championship
Even though i'm not the biggest fan of Chris Jericho these days. I had a lot of fun watching this at 8.30 in the morning. From hockey pucks, being used as weapons, both men exchanging chops, making their chests look like roast ham. Jericho taking trash can headbutts, and both men having a sit down lightsaber battle with kendo sticks, was a delight. Jericho got the win. after Big Bill got involved, Chokeslamming Shibata through a table. This. Was. Enjoyable, but I still feel that Jerichos act, has become stale to its bare bones. But, just one other thing. If you don't think that Chris taking a shot to the balls, with a kendo stick isn't funny, then I don't know what to tell you, other than. like Bart Simpson, you've got not soul.
Claudio Castagnoli vs Brian Cage
Claudio Castagnoli, beat. Brian Cage in a decent tv match, by submission. He also gave a great promo in footage from after Collision, whilst he was walking to his renter car. If only he had bags from Tesco.
Marieh May vs Serena Deeb
Serena Deeb, beat. Marieh May in a decent tv match. She will now face. Toni Storm at. Double Or Nothing. This. Was. Decent.
Kenny Omega segment
For the first time in six months, we saw. Kenny Omega. Kenny has been away recovering from diverticulitis, and his promo, was rivetting, and emotional, in equal measure. He talked about the hell he has gone, from the prospect of retirement, and the real worry about his long term health. He put over the wrestlers, who put the company on their back, in his absense, and called out his former friends, and complete s*** bags. The Elite. This. Was. When Kazuchika Okada came out. The visual of both men facing each other was awesome. Fans were on side from the start. Chanting. This is awesome. Okada called himself the best bout machine, this set up something that every wrestling wants. Okada vs Omega 5. Kenny told Okada, to give him a few months. Which could mean. Forbidden Door, or possible. All In at Wembley Stadium, either way i'm very excited. But all of this was a rouse. Jack Perry attacked Kenny from behind. The Elite came and gave their former friend, an evp trigger, to end the broadcast, but the beat down continued afterwards on Rampage. Kenny was stretchered out of the arena, and whilst he was being taken to the back. The Elite hijacked his stretcher to end the attack. This. Was. Brilliant. And a great way to end the show.
Overview Of Aew Dynamite
I know this episode of Dynamite, has got its detractors, and I understand all the complaints, but. I enjoyed most of. The in ring work, went from, poor to good, whilst the segments stole the show.
This weeks Aew Dynamite is a solid 7/10.
