Aew Dynamite Review 2.5.2024

Intro

Agh yes. The Road to. Double Or Nothing. Over the past few years. I have enjoyed the build to this event, and so far, things are looking good. The Elites Succession esc protocols are proving to be a great story device, and all of the ramifications from that, which could have devastaing consequences, and exciting promise, over the next few months. This. Is, going to be great viewing, and I can't wait to see everything unfold.

Tony Khan Introduction

Tony Khan tried to give an update on his health, live from the Jacksonville Jaguars headquarters, but before he could mention. The Elite. Matthew, and. Nicholas took over, and cut his feed. They explained, that he can't fire them, because of a claws in their contract, and from this point on, they would be taking over the show. Renee Paquette, interviewed The Elite later on in the show. Matthew, and. Nicholas stepped aside, so that. Jack Perry could explain his actions for last week. He put over the fact that Tony Khan used him as a sacrifice, which brought forward his scapegoat persona, huh, sacrifice. Jack Perry, is clearly a Creed fan. This. Would. Be act as great storythread, that would run throughout the show. I loved all of this.

Swerve Strickland segment

I loved all of this. Swerve spoke from the heart, and it was great to see. Strickland spoke from the heart, saying his actions over the past week, are that of a true fighting Champion. He called out The Elite, saying what they did last week was a bitch move. Matthew, and. Nicholas, then appeared on screen, and told him who his Number one contender will be. Christian Cage came out, he proceeded to cut Swerve down to this, whilst levelling up some lst, based on revenge, and humiliation. Cage, and his family, then attacked Swerve. Cage stood over Strickland whilst delivering his words. Nana took a good chunk of the abuse.

Adam Copeland vs Bubby Matthews

I didn't like this. I thought it was slow, and lethargic. Copeland retained his belt, but what came next was even more farsical. Copeland attacked Matthews, with a steelchair, but, before he was about to give him a concerto. The lights went out, and when they came back on. Malakai Black was standing their taunting copeland, with Matthews joining in. Later in the evening. Kyle O'reilly was seen eyeing up Copelands Championship.

Samoa Joe vs Isiah Cassidy

Samoa Joe wrecked Isiah Cassidy, in a short tv match. This. Was. Decent, but not great, because to me this says, that. Aew have no plans for Joe.

Skye Blue segment

Skye Blue, then said that she wants a shot at. Willow Nightingale TBS Championship. Willow would later on answer this, oh and one other thing. Can I please have more Stokeley Hathaway on my tv please.

Orange Cassidy segment

I liked all of this. It's rare that Orange Cassidy gives promos, but when he does, it feels like a real treat, and this was no differant, however it was tinged with a sad thread of reality. He spoke from the heart, as he dug in deep, when telling us fans, that, due to Chucks injury that he sustained during the Parking Lot Brawl, he has been told that his wrestling career is over, he then called out. Trent Barretta. But. Trent cut him off, calling him selfish, and an attention seeker. Cassidy took this to heart, and went for Trent. A team load of security came out to seperate them, and just as Cassidy was about to leave, out came. Damn Don Callis, who took him away. This. Is. Very promising. Heel Cassidy. Yes please.

Chris Jericho vs Katsuyori Shibata FTW Championship

Even though i'm not the biggest fan of Chris Jericho these days. I had a lot of fun watching this at 8.30 in the morning. From hockey pucks, being used as weapons, both men exchanging chops, making their chests look like roast ham. Jericho taking trash can headbutts, and both men having a sit down lightsaber battle with kendo sticks, was a delight. Jericho got the win. after Big Bill got involved, Chokeslamming Shibata through a table. This. Was. Enjoyable, but I still feel that Jerichos act, has become stale to its bare bones. But, just one other thing. If you don't think that Chris taking a shot to the balls, with a kendo stick isn't funny, then I don't know what to tell you, other than. like Bart Simpson, you've got not soul.

Claudio Castagnoli vs Brian Cage

Claudio Castagnoli, beat. Brian Cage in a decent tv match, by submission. He also gave a great promo in footage from after Collision, whilst he was walking to his renter car. If only he had bags from Tesco.

Marieh May vs Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb, beat. Marieh May in a decent tv match. She will now face. Toni Storm at. Double Or Nothing. This. Was. Decent.

Kenny Omega segment

For the first time in six months, we saw. Kenny Omega. Kenny has been away recovering from diverticulitis, and his promo, was rivetting, and emotional, in equal measure. He talked about the hell he has gone, from the prospect of retirement, and the real worry about his long term health. He put over the wrestlers, who put the company on their back, in his absense, and called out his former friends, and complete s*** bags. The Elite. This. Was. When Kazuchika Okada came out. The visual of both men facing each other was awesome. Fans were on side from the start. Chanting. This is awesome. Okada called himself the best bout machine, this set up something that every wrestling wants. Okada vs Omega 5. Kenny told Okada, to give him a few months. Which could mean. Forbidden Door, or possible. All In at Wembley Stadium, either way i'm very excited. But all of this was a rouse. Jack Perry attacked Kenny from behind. The Elite came and gave their former friend, an evp trigger, to end the broadcast, but the beat down continued afterwards on Rampage. Kenny was stretchered out of the arena, and whilst he was being taken to the back. The Elite hijacked his stretcher to end the attack. This. Was. Brilliant. And a great way to end the show.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

I know this episode of Dynamite, has got its detractors, and I understand all the complaints, but. I enjoyed most of. The in ring work, went from, poor to good, whilst the segments stole the show.

This weeks Aew Dynamite is a solid 7/10.

WWE Monday Night Raw Review 30.4.2024

Draft Picks

Ok, guys were going to get straight into it, because there is a lot to unpack. The red brand drafted. Imperium. Damage Ctrl. Cm Punk. Braun Strowman. The Lwo. Drew Mcintyre. The Judgement Day. Ilja Dragunov. The New Day. Lyra Valkyria. The Final Testement, and. Big Bronson Reed, whilst the blue brand is getting. Jade Cargill. Kevin Owens. The Pride. Tiffany Stratton. Legado Delfantasma. Shinsuke Nakamura. Naomi. Chelsea Green, and. Piper Niven. Pretty Deadly. Candace Lerae, and. Indi Hartwell. DIY, and. Blair davenport. I liked most of these developments, and all of implications that will come from it. I give it a month, before talent start jumping brands, rendering the draft, utterly pointless.

Logan Paul shows up

Logan Paul showed up, with some famous friends. I Show Speed. I have no idea who that is, ( I'm getting old ) and. Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs Quarter Back. And guess what, they were drinking, that God awful lighter fluid known as Prime. Don't give it to your kids. It's utter trash.

Becky Lynch. Liv Morgan. Nia Jax Promotrain

Our new WWE Womens Champion Becky Lynch coming out, she talked about her bloodsoaked history with the state of Kansas, and how six years later she's still on top, and that she's been waiting two years to get her title back. But. Championships are not meant for winning, there made for defending, and just like magic, out walked. liv Morgan. Liv said that she feels like she's owed a shot, after she did what. Becky couldn't do, take out. Rhea Ripley. Becky tried to do a role reversal. But, she was interrupted by Nia Jax. She tries to own her superiority, but she was booed out of the building. Nia said that she would love to have a win, on her last night on the red brand, and at that point, the song. Celebrate by. Cool And The Gang played, in both. Liv, and. Becky's heads. I didn't like this. It felt a bit flat, and went nowhere.

Gunther vs Xavier Woods

Gunther, beat. Xavier Woods. In a standard tv match, that was decent, not great, but decent. I loved the sight of. Kofi Kingston doing his best Mickey from Rocky Impersonation. Don't throw in the towel.

Jey Uso Segment

WWE started to sow the seeds for Jey Uso, vs. Logan Paul. Now do I want to see that, well in the words of Jey. Yeeeeeeet.

WWE gives back

WWE then gave back, whilst the Kansas Chiefs, were on their Superbowl victory tour. A gunman opened fire on a crowd injuring, and killing people. But one brave fan, found his way onto the teams bus, to get shelter. The kids name is. Joey Bargonzi. This moment was truly special, because. Before the show went live, he welcomed the crowd to Monday Night Raw.

Logan Paul segment ( this followed the 2nd draft round )

Logan Paul, and. I Show Speed, walked down to the ring, after giving the respective brands their picks. Logan Called out. Jey Uso calling him stupid. This turned into hilarious chaos. Jey Uso came out, and didn't say much. He was flanked by. The Judgment Day. Jey attacked Finn, and. Mcdonagh. Logan went to Patrick Mahomes, and got his Superbowl ring, he went to punch Jey, but ended smacking Jd. Jey was attacked by Logan, and a returning Monster amongst men. Braun Strowman came out to even the numbers. This. Was. what it was.

Chad Gable segment

Chad Gable was then taken out by. sami Zayn, after he read. The Alpha Academy the riot act. I love heel Chad Gable.

Big Bronson Reed vs Sami Zayn Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn vs Big Bronson Reed was thrown out, after. Chad Gable got Involved. Yeah. I don't know what to make of this.

Drew Mcintyre segment ( this followed draft round 3 )

I loved all of this. Drew came out, and said that he's not happy, with the fact that Cm Punk has been chosen over him. He called Punk, a bitch, and a coward. Punks music started to play, But he was nowhere to be seen, that was until the camera showed him in the posh seats. ( lucky for some ) This led to him and Drew, playing a game of cat and mouse. Punk sat in the ring, and cut a perfect promo on Drew, that felt like a blistering shot to my senses. This. Was. Brilliant.

WWE sowing more seeds

WWE continued to sow even more seeds, this time it was. Bron Breakker vs Sheamus. You love to see it.

 Candace Lerae vs Maxxine Dupri

Candace Lerae, beat. Maxxine Dupri in a flat tv match. Ok. look. I'm just going to be honest. I hated this match, and the entire feud. It's both ladies fault, because I place that at the hands of the booker.

The Human oven

Even. The Human Ovens dad thinks his Moustace look ridiculous. I mean you can't unsee it, once you've viewed it.

Liv Morgan vs Nia Jax

Liv Morgan, beat Nia Jax in short, and nearly unwatchable match, she hit her with her oblivion finisher, thanks to Naomi, and. Tiffany Stratton, having a bust up at ringside.

Awesome Truth vs The Alpha Academy WWE Tag Team Championship

This. Was. Predictable, and tame, with its execution. The Awesome Truth got the win to retain their belts, there comedy patter earlier in the night, led to Chad Gable getting sparked out.

Jay Uso. Andrade, and. Ricochet vs The Judgement Day

From bad communication, between these guys, that ran throughout the broadcast, until this. The match was fine, nothing much to write home about. Jey, and his mates got the win, thanks to. Jd Mcdonagh, which acted as a launch pad, to sow the seeds of decention within The Judgement Day.

Overview Of Monday Night

This. Weeks. Monday Night Raw, was a let down. The matches felt flat, and the promos were hit and miss, the editions of. Stephanie Mcmahon. Alundra Blaze. The APA, and that absolutely class act Teddy Long, made for a nice piece of Nostalgia, but this didn't make up for the short comings throughout the show.

This weeks Monday Night Raw is a low 5/10.

Smacklillision Weekend Round Up The Draft edition 27. 28. 4. 2024

Intro

With WWE's annual Draft, having already started by the time of me writing this intro. The normality of this time of year starts to come into effect, last weekend, and early into this week, with multiple talents being let go from the promotion, including. Jinder Mahal. Sanga. Veer. Xia Li. Xyon Quinn. All being released alongside. Von Wagner, and. Cameron Grimes. Even though i'm fully aware that the industry can be incredibly cruel, and harness awful practices, i feel that this is the nastier side of the sports industry as a whole, taking advantage of hungry talent, by eating them up, and spitting them out. It's an unessciary practice that needs to stop, in our year of 2024, as the argumenet of a company's eyes becoming to big for there belly, doesn't hold up anymore in my opinion. You would hear stories back in the nineties, when. Pro surfers would get dropped by major sponsors, and the aftermath that came with it, would have a heavy price. This whole attitude needs to stop, for all that is fair and right.

Smackdown

Cody Rhodes backstage footage

The Started with the confirmation that. Cody Rhodes, is the new. John Cena, because he was signing a lot of pictures, that get sold at the merch table. It's known that John would have to box loads of these before every show.

Kayla Braxton. Paul Heyman Segment

Paul Heyman told Kayla Braxton, that. Roman Reigns, has taken himself out of the running, to be drafted, this would have bad consequences later on for him, when. Solo and Tama showed up later, a fight would break when KO attacked the pair, leaving refs, and security to come in and break it up.

Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles Contract signing

This. Was. A decent opening segment. From both men going through their history loosely, them shairing their love for Cody's dad Dusty, AJ said that he is refocused, which is why he beat LA Knight last week, to earn a shot at Cody's championship. Cody counteracted this perfectly, and told. AJ that when they meet at Backlash, all the respect that he has for AJ, will be put to one side, because this won't be a dream match, it will be a matter of retention, both men put pen to paper, and that was that, the match was made official for Backlash.

The Draft all 4 rounds

Ok guys this isn't going to be easy, so i'm going to marry all 4 rounds together.

Round 1

Round 1 saw the red brand get. Seth Freakin Rollins, and. Jey Uso, whilst the blue brand got. Bianca Belair, and. Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo would later come out, and challenge Cody Rhodes, Cody accepted, and the main event. I love Carmelo Hayes, and the fact that he has been called from NXT, makes me very happy.

Round 2

Round 2 saw the red brand get. Liv Morgan, and Bron Breakker, whilst the blue brand got. Randy Orton, and. Nia Jax. Before this took place. Bron Breakker, destroyed Cedric Alexander in a squash match.

Round 3

Round 3 saw the brand get. Ricochet, and. Sheamus, whilst the blue brand got. LA Knight, and. The Bloodline. I just want to take some, to talk the abuse that sheamus has been getting online. Just stop it, bodyshaming isn't funny, it's not big, it's not clever. So just don't do it.

Round 4

Round 4 saw. The Alpha Academy, and. NXT call up. Kiana James, go to the red brand, whilst the blue brand got. AJ Styles, and Andrade. All of these picks made a lot of sense, and as for Kiana James being called up. I just hope that the main roster booking can utilise her talents. Plus the guest announcers, that ranged from, the great. Cody Rhodes. HHH. Michelle Mccool. Tori Wilson, and of course Teddy Long, made for nice pieces of nostalgia, whilst appearances from The Dudley Boyz, left me feeling bemused, and a JBL appearance, had me thinking, why have they asked this awful human being to be here on this night. I mean Baron Corbin is nowhere to be seen.

Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee vs Angel and Humberto

Rey Mysterio, and. Dragon Lee, beat. Angel, and Humberto, in a flat tv match, but it was all about the aftermath. Santos Escobar, and. Electra Lopez, came out, and. Santos had some footage that cleared his name, when Rey and his Lwo accused Santos, of attacking. Dragon Lee, and guess what. The Culprit was none other that Carlito, that apple munching bastard.

Bianca Belair segment

Kayla Braxton interviewed Bianca Belair. Bianca put over her confidence, when saying that her tag partner. Jade Cargill will be drafted to Friday Nights, and the fact that they will be tag team champions. The Kabuki Warriors walked on to the stage, and tried to imtimidate Bianca, that was until Jade Cargill came out to even the numbers. All four ladies were rudely interrupted, by a brawling Kevin Owens, and Tama Tonga, both men brawled down to the ring, with kevin taking most of the offence. That was until. Solo Sikoa came out, to put preassure on KO, but just when all hope was gone, out came. Randy Orton to even the numbers.

Tiffany Stratton vs Naomi

This. Was. Pointless, the match was thrown out when newly drafted Nia Jax, came out and wrecked Bayley, who was sitting at ringside, on commentary. Naomi came out to help her friend, and was taken out by Jax. stratton took full advantage, by giving both. Bayley, and. Naomi a pme. Nick Aldis later on informed us, that the Womens Championship will now be contested in a triple threat Match, at Backlash, between Bayley. Tiffany Stratton, and. Naomi. But do you know what was an even bigger treat. Teddy Long entered stage left, and told us that. Kevin Owens, and. Randy Orton, will face. Solo Sikoa, and. Tama Tonga, in a tag Match, with The Undertaker player. I mean just imagine it, if The Deadman just magically turned up during that match at Backlash, it's called the Teddy Long effect. And you love to see it. I love that man.

The Final Testement segment

From a continuous camera shot. The Final testement showed that you've acted like a bunch of naughty school children, by attacking The New Catch Republic. Oh that Final Testement, what are they like.

Carmelo Hayes vs Cody Rhodes

This. Was. A great look in differant contrasts of styles. Carmelo, and. Cody had a lofi banger, that made me think. The future of wrestling is bright. I have known for at least 3 years now, that. Carmelo Hayes has a bright future in front of him, even though I have gone cold a bit on the NXT product of late. I have always been a fan of Carmelo, his partnership with Trick williams was a treat to watch, and his match with Cody was a perfect balance, even though he came up short here, It should make us as fans feel safe in the knowledge that good talent is coming WWE's developmental system.

Aew Collision

Swerve Strickland Segment

The show started with, the first promo of Swerve Stricklands Championship reign. The emotion of the moment was written all over his face, and it was a sight to see. The chant of thank you Swerve, rung around Aew's spiritual home, he put over. Willow Nightingale, whilst slating The Elite, for putting their hands on Tony Khan, calling them bitches, forshadowing something that could come in the future, and giving. Danielson, and. Osperay their flowers. He then opened the floor for an open challenge, for his Aew World Heavyweight Championship. Claudio Castagnoli answered the call. Both men stared each other down. Swerve tried to cut his catchphrase, but. Claudio stopped him, and told him, that he accepted the challenge. Swerve said, that he's on, and the main event was then set. I liked all of this.

Tony Khan Update

Tony Schiavone gave us an update, on. Tony Khans health, after what happened to him on Wednesday night, at the hands of The Elite. He put over his disgust, whilst I pissed myself laughing, at the thought of Tony Khan, and that ridiculous neckbrace, that he wore in the Jacksonville Jaguars war room, during the NFL Draft. Oh well, at Shad had a great time.

The Bang Bang Gang vs Top Flight and Action Andretti

I wasn't a big fan of this match. I just think that something was missing from this. As time has gone by. I have grown tiresome of. The Bang Bang Gang. The ass boys, just don't gel to me. Jay White is a great worker, and deserves better than this. The Match had some good action, but it didn't hook me in. The Bang Bang Gang got the win.

The House Of Black Segment

The House Of Black said that one of them, will answer. Adam Copelands Cope Ope challenge, for his TNT Championship. This Wednesday on Dynamite.

Rey Fenix vs The Beast Mortos

This. Was. A physical war, that was a perfect look at two Mexican styles of wrestling, meshing together perfectly. This. Was. A lofi burner, that grew in time, to become a solid outing for both men. Mortos took the majority of the offence. Both men put in a shift, in order to create their art. The in ring work was great, and their chemistry was great. Fenix got the win, in his first match back in six months. I liked all of this.

Orange Cassidy Segment

Orange Cassidy. Was interviewed backstage. He sold his confliction, over the situation with. Chuck, and. Trent. Am I the only person, who's thinking of Sue in all of this. Oh well. RIP Sues mini van then. No more rides from mummy.

Rush vs Martin Stone

Rush, beat. Martin Stone. In a sustained tv squash match. Martin Stone looks familiar, and I can't quite put my finger on where I have seen him?

Timeless Toni Storm vs Ana Jay

Timeless Toni Storm, beat. Ana Jay, in decent tv Womens match. I liked this.

The Acclaimed vs The Grizzled Young Veterans

I liked this. The Match was decent, from the moment that Max Castors, scripted rap came out from the mic, to ( insert Scouse accent here ) THE GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS, SOON TO BE RECOGNISED AS. Jurgen Klopp fan boys. Their entrance gear is heavily inspired by LFC. ( lord Kows why, their s*** ) The match was great, and a solid reminder of what WWE tried to ruin. The Acclaimed got the win. In what was a fun match.

Shibata segment

Katsuyori Shibata, gave his thoughts on Chris Jericho, ahead of their match on Dynamite this wednesday. He said that he is going to take his FTW Championship. He also said that he will deal Shane Taylor Promotions, this prompted. Daniel Garcia to come in, and offer his help. Shibata agreed. So Tony Khan put them in a tag match on Rampage, against STP members Shane Taylor, and. Lee Moriarty.

World Heavyweight Championship Swerve Strickland vs Claudio Castagnoli

The main event saw. Claudio Castagnoli, challenge. Swerve strickland for his newly won. Aew World Heavyweight Championship. This. Was. Another great clash of styles, moulding together. Both men exampled, a great back and forth, The surrounding staging would get used as a weapon, on two occasions, The near falls helped create a strong sense of drama, thankfully to the match having plenty time to breathe. Swerve retained, with the aid of his house call finisher. Now. This is how you kick start a World Championship reign.

Overview Of The Weekend

With one show, laying out its cards before a major PLE, and the other feeling like they have a point to prove. This weekends wrestling, has been an interesting study in contrast, that rarely gets seen on tv, and I feel that's important to remember, when looking at shows through a lens.

This Weeks Smackdown is a solid 7/10. ( just for Teddy Long )

And Aew Collision is a solid 8/10.

Aew Dynamite Review 25.4.2024

Intro

Reinvention can sound like an ugly word, but in the terms of the annals of wrestling history, it has at times, been seen as a green light for creativity to shine through. Aew needed a reset, after two weeks of bad press, and now that Aew Dynasty is in the rearview mirror. The time is now, to show the world that, Tony Khans little promotion that can, is putting their best foot forward once again.

The Elite show

In footage shown earlier in the day. The elite were seen showing up to Aew's spiritual home Daily's Place, with a certain Scapegoat. Jack Perry, this would be a running theme throughout the broadcast. Alex Mahvez would try and get a word with them, when they were seen entering, and later on leaving Tony Khans office. Nick Jackson told Mahvez, that Khan has agreed to meet with Perry in the centre of the ring later tonight, you can tell, that this is going to be good.

Orange Cassidy segment

Orange Cassidy was chucked out onto the stage, like a wet towel, by that dastardly Trent Barretta, he wasted no time in calling out. Chuck Taylor. He told Chuck, that it was time to make a choice. Trent Lauded himself over Cassidy, calling him a p****, whilst reinventing their history. Chuck Chose Orange, just like Ash Ketchum when he chose Pikachu. Chuck called his former Best Friend a piece of s***, and challenged him to a parking lot fight. This will go down on Rampage, this Saturday.

Swerve Strickland vs Kyle Fletcher World Title Eliminator

our first match of the night, featured our new Aew World Champion. Swerve Strickland. I liked all of this. The match told a solid story, that would come to light later on in the show. Swerve took 80% of the offence, and took Fletcher to school. The Physicality was on point, their chemistry was great to see, and. Swerve kicks off his reign, with a well earnt win.

Renee Paquette Thunder Rosa

Renee Paquette Interviewed Thunder Rosa, who said that she was proud of what she did on Sunday, at the PPV. Deonna Purrazzo didn't feel the same way, and the two ladies had a cat fight.

Mina Shirikawa vs Anna Jay

This. Was. A lofi burner that took a while to get going, and when it did. Mina got the win by roll up. Marieh May got in the ring to celebrate with her former Stardom Tag Team Partner, but was decked by Anna Jay. Toni Storm came down to make the save, when who should step out on the rampway, none other than Sereena deeb, who made a promise to the fans, that the next time she touches the belt, she will be the new Aew womens Champion. This. Has. A lot of promise, that I can't wait to see unfold.

Willow Nightingale Championship Celebration

Ok. I'm just going to say it. If you don't like Willow Nightingale, then, like Bart Simpson, you have no soul. I loved this segment, from kris Statlanders awful rapping. Patrice Coleman showcasing his great singing voice, and of course. Stokeley Hathaway, being. Stokeley Hathaway. Willows joy was visible for all two see, and it was glorious. Mercedes Mone came out, and the pair had an excellent promo dual, from subtle digs, to. Willow wanting Mercedes at 100%, which brought in the looming question of. Can she beat Mercedes when she is fully fit? to the l.t.s that has come with this terrority. I liked all of this, but, just one other thing, Who Attacked Mercedes a couple of weeks ago? Here's looking at you Statlander.

Casino Gauntlet Match

Will Osperay, beat. Jay White. Dante Martin.Penta. Kyle O'reily. Lance Archer, and Kommander, in a fun Gauntlet match. He will now face Roderick Strong at Double Or Nothing, for the International Championship. Strong came out with his Undisputed Kingdom faction, for a stair down. All isn't right with the Damn It Don Callis Family.

Chris Jericho segment

Look. I don't know what to make of this, other. Come on kids lets go sit under Chris Jericho's learning tree. His promo wasn't great at all. His delivery felt forced, and the fact that Big Bill, has been dragged into this, makes me think. What's the point of this, and one other thing. Please don't have Hook join this group, for the love of him upstairs, don't do that.

Jon Moxley vs Powerhouse Hobbs IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Jon Moxley retained his IWGP World, beating Powerhouse Hobbs. In a match that I can only describe as a slugfest. And I loved it.

Tony Khan face to face with Jack Perry

This. Was. A great segment, don't get me wrong. I understand that it will have its detractors, but I loved what I saw here. Perry comes out to the ring. He puts over Jacksonville, and then asks Tony Khan to come out. He goes over the times they have had. From setting out to change the world, and the roads they have travelled, to this. Perry asked for a handshake, and to be reinstated. Khan obliged, he shook Perry's hand, put after he raised. Perry attacked him, making him fear for his life. The Elite tried to reason with him, but ended toying with Khan, they ended the segment by giving him, a top rope piledriver. Medics, and talent came out from the back, to help their fallen boss, as. The Elite thanked the Jacksonville fans to end the show.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

Now this what I call a return to form. I enjoyed all of this. The promos went from bad, to excellent, and the in ring work followed the same direction. This weeks Dynamite is the true meaning of reinvention, as. Tony Khan has started to spin several positive plates, that could have some fascinating outcomes.

This weeks Dynamite is a high 8/10.

My Take Away points From Aew Dynasty

Intro

Due to my work schedule, I was unable to give you guys a full review of the show. So having just watched what was an excellent PPV, it has inspired me to tell the world my thoughts on the show, so sit back, and grab a couple of bags of more to share molteasers, and lets do this.

Point 1

Money well spent

This past March saw two of the biggest debuts in the young promotions history. Mercedes Mone, and. Kazuchika Okada, at Aew Dynamite Big Business, even the Mercedes is still yet to set the world on fire. Okada is starting to fit in like a glove, his heel character siding with The Young Bucks, bringing to life the heel Elite faction to the fore front of Aew. His Match last night against Pac, was solid fluidity being served to the masses, and a mental game of chess, that i'm going to go back and watch again, at a later point this week. Do I think this is going to lead to him vs Kenny Omega, yes I do, but given the fact that there is no limit for kenny's return from diverticulitis. This could be a case of, good things come to those who wait.

Point 2

Right Time Right Place

The show saw 3 three championships change hands. The Young Bucks became three time Tag Team Champions, whilst. Willow Nightingale, and. Swerve strickland became the new womens TBS Champion, and. World Heavyweight champion respectively. Swerve Strickland is the first African american, to become Aew World Heavyweight Champion. I'm so onboard with this, because I don't feel that African Americans, get a lot of credit in wrestling, and it's a shame. Him befeating. Samoa Joe wasn't just a call to arms, it was a call for needed change in the industry. I can't wait to see what is in store for Swerve in the future as champion. And even though I think Willow, is going to be a transitional Champion, this is going to wonders for the happiest women in wrestling, now don't mess this up Tony.

Point 3

The Reliance on Chris Jericho needs to stop

Over the past two years, It feels like chris Jericho's career, has been stuck in mid card vortex, that has only seemed to get worse with time. Back on Christmas Day. Chris Jericho got into a twitter war, with. Cm Punks Lawyer Steven P, after the latter Claimed that he had to sign an NDA, in regards to what happened at All Out 2022. Jericho denied it, prompting Nick Hauman of. Haus Of Wrestling, to ask, what about those who you make sign them. whilst listing him next to Harvey Weinstein. How has this bled into on screen character. In the face of what came out, fans became dispondant when it came, to the once loved performer, and ever since those dangerous allegations came out. His act has become stale, pathetic, and lifeless. His Match with Hook last night, wasn't bad at all, but the fans didn't reprocate that, chanting, please retire, Fozzy sucks, and, go home Jericho go home chants, could be heard all around the arena. Jericho has real go away heat, and If Tony Khan doesn't act, and listen to the fans, they won't walk with their wallets, they just won't watch, heat like this can be damaging.

Danielson vs Osperay

This Match was excellent. The Internet can be a fickle place, with some people saying, it was the match of the year, whilst others saying it was just good, ( here's looking at you Jim Cornette ) personally I thought it was a fast paced blast to the sences. look I don't think it matters were you sit, because were all differant, if we all liked the same stuff, the world would be a boring place.

Smacklillision Weekend Round Up 20.4.2024

Intro

Ok. I'm starting off with an apology, due to my work schedule in my day job. I won't be able to review Aew Dynasty, the one thing that I wanted to do, when this dream of mine, slowly turned, and is still turning into a reality, was to give you guys, the fans, the best reviews out there. But, there are times when my day job has to take the top priority slot. So with that said, my apologies, and I will let you all know my thoughts on the PPV, when I review Dynamite, later this week.

Smackdown

LA Knight vs Aj Styles

Now don't get me wrong. I know that I'm going to be one in a small Majority, but I prefered this to their Mania Match, this was for the No1 contenders at Backlash, to face. Cody Rhodes, and I thought this was great. AJ got the win in an entertaining Match. Cody, and. AJ, will have a contract signing next week. I can't wait to hear the Multiple Bullet Club references, and. TNA jabs. Be still my. NJPW, and. TNA loving heart.

Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga Segment

Paul Heyman was seen in the parking lot, when. Solo Sikoa showed up looking suited and booted, he told paul, to accept the new adition to The Bloodline. Tama Tonga. This would a reacurring story throughout the show, and one other thing. Am I the only person, who thinks that both. Solo, and. Tama, look like absolute pieces in those suits.

Belt Swap time

Nick Aldis brought out HHH at the start of our next segment, and that pesky qr code popped up again, look I see what WWE are trying to go with here, they're bringing back Uncle Howdy, which don't get me wrong, is a nice tribute to the late Bray Wyatt. I just feel this is a bit creatively redundant. WWE should be trying something new, and not rehashing old ideas. HHH got over how. WrestleMania was the successfull Mania in recent times, and welcomed the WWE Universe to Friday Night Smackdown. He put over Nick Aldis, and. Adam Pearce, for doing a great job on their respective brands. Aldis then brought out. The Universal Tag Team Champions. Atown Down Under. Austin Theory, and. Grayson Waller. Ok i'm going to be honest. I didn't like the back and fourth between all four men. something about what they were saying, just felt off, the words were fine, and the delivery was decent. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I couldn't get into this. Waller, and. Theory refused to shake HHH's hand, and the look on his face said everything. HHH then revealed the belts, and I have to say. I like this design. Whilst the Tag belts on Monday nights, looklike a bowl of Strawberry flavoured Gold cereal, these look a lot more refined.  Aldis, told the dumd duo, to never be that disrespectful again, or they might be seperated, and the fatal 4 way No1 contenders Match would start straight away. The Street Profits, came away with the win, baeting. New Catch Republic. Legado Delfantasma, and. AOP. The Match was a lot, and had great spots incuding. Bate. Dunne, and ford going airbourne, and. AOP trying to show dominance, and. Legado using human beings as launchpads, you love to see it. The Match was a lot of fun, shame about the prior segment. But what came next, was awesome.

The Bloodline Segment

Paul Heyman was seen backstage trying to reason with Solo Sikoa, he told him that he is not in the position, to be making the decisions he's making, but one day, he will be, but all solo was interested in, was finding Kevin Owens. This led to an excellent walk through shot to the ring. Paul said that if their was a list of backstage politicians, he would be no1, he tried to give an update on where The Bloodline is at the moment, the chant of we want Roman, resonated throughout the arena, but, before Paul could say anything. Solo Snatched the mic from him. He explained his actions after last week, he said, that he has had to lose a brother, in order to gain a brother. Tama Tonga brings out a bloodied and battered Kevin Owens. Kevin tried to fight back, but he's left reeling in a pool of his own blood. Solo Gave him a samoan spike, whilst Tama lost it. Nick Aldis then discoverd how Owens got bloodied up, Tama ran his renter car Into Kevins renter car, Aldis gave Paul a warning, to keep The Bloodline in order.

Carlito vs Santos Escobar

Santos Escobar, beat. Carlito in a standard TV Match, that out did their Survivor Series encounter, in my opinion.

Damage Ctrl segment

Kayla Braxton, interviewed. Damage Ctrl, who were sitting in the posh seats.    ( lucky for some ) Dakota Kai led their promo, but it didn't last long, because They saw Jade Cargill, and. Bianca Belair, from across the way, they  decided to take the box next to them, in the other posh box. Dakota didn't like this at all. If looks could kill. And if only they had food, just imagine it, popcorn and coca cola would go flying.

Bayley vs Naomi WWE Womens Championship

I liked all of this, the physicality was great, and their in ring chemistry was solid. Naomi took a lot of the early offence, but. Bayley counteracted by showing pure heart, however the Match got thrown out, when tiffany stratton got Involved, normally I hate dq finishes, but i'm going to let this one play out.

Aew Collision

Adam Copeland. Mark Briscoe and Eddie Kingston vs Top Flight Action Andretti

This. Was. A lot of fun, from the basic story of veterans vs upstarts, krane kick vs redneck kung fu, and of course. Eddie Kingston chopping the daylights out of Dante Martin. Mark Briscoe put an end to proceedings with a froggy bow splash, after an excellent exchange, to get the win for his team.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs CJ Esparza

Here lays CJ Esparza, he came, he saw, he got wrescked by Powerhouse Hobbs. In the aftermath. Don by God Callis took to the mic. He relived his history with NJPW, and how he helped groom the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, from the Matches he helped book, to the pressent day, he said that on wednesday, when Aew head back to their spiritual home, of. Dailys Place. Powerhouse Hobbs, will face. Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Ok. Thursday morning will be interesting, when I get to review it.

Chris Jericho apologises

Chris Jericho appeared on screen, in a pretaped promo, apologising to Hook, for his actions last Wednesday. I had no time for any of this.

The Gunns vs The Acclaimed

This. Was better than what I thought it had any right to be. Max Castors rap was politically incorrect as always, the physicality flowed nicely, and was fast paced at points. The Gunns got the win, thanks to Jay White cheating, with the aid of his trusty Gold bat. I liked this.

Toni Storm segment

Toni Storm called out Thunder Rosa, in an excellent pre taped segment. I loved all of this. I want La mera mera to take home the prize, that she never lost at the PPV.

Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli vs Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshista Bunk House Brawl

This. Was. A, physical, violent, bloodsoaked, war, and I loved all of it. From the outset, this was crazy, both teams thought in the crowd, both teams got nice and bloody, and to it's clear and obvious that, this is the direction Aew going in for. Anarchy In The Arena, at. Double Or Nothing. The spots here were excellent, from Danielson getting launched into the ring post. Kyle Fletcher throwing a load of powder in Claudio's face. I heard that Shawn Michaels loved this spot. Because this was a no dq Match, to a degree. Powerhouse Hobbs came out, to wreak havoc, when Jon Moxley came out to make the save. Takeshista, and. Fletcher, had Danielson in perrall, until he did a reversal, landing Konosuke back first onto a chair, the final exchange brought things to a great close, allowing Danielson to get the win, by hitting a bopsycho knee on Takeshista, and then putting him in the labelle lock for the win. Danielson took to the mic in the aftermath. And all I have to is this. Bryan Danielson is one crazy m************. Because his idea of heaven, is him bleeding in front of the crowd, after kicking someones ass. Yes. It's questionable, him having a Match, the night before he faces Will Osperay, but in all honesty I don't think he cares. The promo he had earlier in the night with Will, examplified all of this.

Willow Nightingale Segment

Kris Statlander, and. Willow Nightingale are both fired up, about Willow beating. Julia Hart for the TBS Championship. Ladies. Stokeley is right, f u doesn't stand for fired up. It stands for you f***** up. Can I please have more Stokeley hathaway on my TV please.

Skye Blue vs Leyla Hirsch

Ok. I'm going to be honest, this was a botch filled let down. Skye got the win. I'm not going to say much about this, because I just feel bad for both ladies.

The Elite vs Pac and Ftr

This. Was. A great main event. I had a lot of fun watching this, the Match flowed like a fine craft beer. The near falls were excellent, and the pace was solid. I have no complaints here. This. Match did what it says on the tin, it got me hyped for their respective PPV Matches. Pac got his team the win, by hitting his black arrow finisher on Okada. Daniel Garcia came out to make the save, in the aftermath, to take the show off the air.

Overview Of The Weekend

From Friday Night Smackdown, helping WWE verge even further away from its sports entertainment roots, to. Aew Collision proving that go home shows, don't always have to centre around decent matches, because you intertwine them with lowfi storytelling. This. Weekend has left me feeling excited for Aew's Dynasty PPV, and the giant bag of Mcdonalds, that i'm going to devour whilst watching it.

This weeks Friday Night Smackdown is a high 7/10.

And Aew Collision is a solid 8/10.

Aew Dynamite Review

Intro

With last weeks embarrassment, acting as a reminder of just how petty this industry can be. I do feel that Aew can bounce back, by showcasing excellent wrestling action, and with Dynasty just a few days away. And the incoming return next week to Dailys Place. I get that some fans will lapse because of Tony Khans actions last week. But this should act as a reminder, that wrestling is a strange, and backwards industry, that loves to stoke the fires within us fans. And lets be honest. We all love it.

Jon Moxley segment

Dynamite kicked off in style, with. Jon Moxley. The new IWGP Champion. He spoke about his history with the city of Miniapolis. I loved this. The fans were electric all night and it started here. The you deserve it chant, could be heard loud and clear through my chromecast. His passion, and his grace was full display. He talked about how he has climbed mountains, to get were he is today. Because he has given his blood, sweat, tears. And anyone who doesn't like it, can kiss his arse. This. Was. A reminder of how life plays out, because how far are we as. Human Beings willing to go, in order to get what we want out of life. If you dig deep, the rewards will come. He called out the Don Callis Family. he spoke about his distain for Damn It Don Callis. A man who he has no time for. He called out Powerhouse Hobbs for a Match next week. When Aew comes home to Dailys Place. I think this will be the direction, for Anarchy In The Arena at Double Or Nothing. And i'm here for it.

Mercedes Mone

This should be a plotline to an episode of Diagnosis Murder, called. Who Attacked. Mercedes Mone. She blamed both. willow Nightingale, and. Julia Hart. Were is. Rick Ross when you need him. Accusations.

Adam Copeland and Willow Nightingale vs Julia Hart and Brody King

I don't know how to describe this Match, was it a swerve, or was it good, well if i'm hionest, it was a bit of both. Willow was seen to have been attacked backstage, taking her out for most of the Match. King battered Copeland in the early going. Julia Hart acted like a Jezzabelle. Willow came out to help Copeland. He hit Brody King with a sphere, and. Nightingale followed it up with a rolling cannonball, and was knocked out by Julia Hart, with. Brody's chain, and choked out, for the win.

Renee Paquette Samoa Joe Segment

Renee Paquette had a sit down interview with Samoa Joe. I liked all of this. Joe brought all of Swerve's failures into focus, by calling him a choke artist. Swerve would answer this back later on, by calling him out in the ring.

The Elite vs Pac. Daniel Garcia and. Penta

This verged as a mix of the sensational, and the damn right brilliant, and I loved all of it. From The Young Bucks interrupting theirs, and. Ftr's video package, and cutting to backstage in the guerilla entrance. Okada said he is coming for Pac, they told Tony Khan to hit their music, and get their elevator ready. The Match was great. From Nicholas Jackson having a thrusting compettion, with. Daniel Garcia. Mathew Jackson having a go at being a colour Commentator. I got shades of watching that dodgy Australian PPV, by the WWA promotion, in a hilarious way. The physicality was great, and the in ring comedy balanced with this perfectly. Okada got them the win after hitting Garcia with a rainmaker, after The Bucks gave him a superkick party. I loved this. The Bucks gave Garcia, a ladder sandwich, in the aftermath.

Hook and Chris jericho segment

Ok, I'm just going to say it. This was awful. It acted as a way to get Jericho on the PPV. I don't think I should say anything more.

Marieh May vs Deonna Purrazzo

Deonna Purrazzo, beat. Marieh May In a solid TV Match. Storm beat her down afterwards, causing. Thunder Rosa to come out and make the save. Which didn't go down well.

The Bang Bang Gang segment

Renee Paquette interviewed. The Bang Bang Gang, they challenged The Acclaimed to put their trios belts on the line, in a winner takes all Match, at. Dynasty. With them putting their ROH trios belts on the line. The Acclaimed and Daddyass answered this back later on.

Orange Cassidy vs Shane Taylor

Orange Cassidy, beat. Shane Taylor in a fun, and physical Match. He was beat down in the aftermath by faction buddies. Lee Moriarty, and. Antony Ogogo. Trent Barretta prevented. Matt Sydal, and. Christopher Daniels, from helping Cassidy. This. Was decent.

Will Osperay vs Claudio Castagnoli

I loved all of this. It acted like a highlight reel of great in ring action, and phenomanal chemistry. The near falls were well crafted, and their counteractions moulded the Match into perfection. Osperay got the win with his hidden blade finsiher. I could say so much about this Match, but if I did, we would be here for at least the rest of the day. I loved all of this. Claudio was beaten down by the. Damn It Don Callis Family. Moxley came out to make the save, and had a stair off with Powerhouse Hobbs.

Swerve Strickland calls out Samoa Joe

Swerve, finished the show, by calling out Samoa Joe to the ring, and it was awesome. Joe came out, and both men thought. Swerve took out a load of security, with a stomp. Nana got cornered, and both men gave each other their best, to end the show.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

Is Aew back? Is the question this weeks Dynamite has left me with. Yes, the in ring action was good, and the promos were great, but is the collateral damage from last week, going to have an even bigger impact than what we've already seen, only time will tell.

This weeks Dynamite is a high 8/10.

The show ended with Swerve
