Aew Dynamite Review 25.4.2024
Intro
Reinvention can sound like an ugly word, but in the terms of the annals of wrestling history, it has at times, been seen as a green light for creativity to shine through. Aew needed a reset, after two weeks of bad press, and now that Aew Dynasty is in the rearview mirror. The time is now, to show the world that, Tony Khans little promotion that can, is putting their best foot forward once again.
The Elite show
In footage shown earlier in the day. The elite were seen showing up to Aew's spiritual home Daily's Place, with a certain Scapegoat. Jack Perry, this would be a running theme throughout the broadcast. Alex Mahvez would try and get a word with them, when they were seen entering, and later on leaving Tony Khans office. Nick Jackson told Mahvez, that Khan has agreed to meet with Perry in the centre of the ring later tonight, you can tell, that this is going to be good.
Orange Cassidy segment
Orange Cassidy was chucked out onto the stage, like a wet towel, by that dastardly Trent Barretta, he wasted no time in calling out. Chuck Taylor. He told Chuck, that it was time to make a choice. Trent Lauded himself over Cassidy, calling him a p****, whilst reinventing their history. Chuck Chose Orange, just like Ash Ketchum when he chose Pikachu. Chuck called his former Best Friend a piece of s***, and challenged him to a parking lot fight. This will go down on Rampage, this Saturday.
Swerve Strickland vs Kyle Fletcher World Title Eliminator
our first match of the night, featured our new Aew World Champion. Swerve Strickland. I liked all of this. The match told a solid story, that would come to light later on in the show. Swerve took 80% of the offence, and took Fletcher to school. The Physicality was on point, their chemistry was great to see, and. Swerve kicks off his reign, with a well earnt win.
Renee Paquette Thunder Rosa
Renee Paquette Interviewed Thunder Rosa, who said that she was proud of what she did on Sunday, at the PPV. Deonna Purrazzo didn't feel the same way, and the two ladies had a cat fight.
Mina Shirikawa vs Anna Jay
This. Was. A lofi burner that took a while to get going, and when it did. Mina got the win by roll up. Marieh May got in the ring to celebrate with her former Stardom Tag Team Partner, but was decked by Anna Jay. Toni Storm came down to make the save, when who should step out on the rampway, none other than Sereena deeb, who made a promise to the fans, that the next time she touches the belt, she will be the new Aew womens Champion. This. Has. A lot of promise, that I can't wait to see unfold.
Willow Nightingale Championship Celebration
Ok. I'm just going to say it. If you don't like Willow Nightingale, then, like Bart Simpson, you have no soul. I loved this segment, from kris Statlanders awful rapping. Patrice Coleman showcasing his great singing voice, and of course. Stokeley Hathaway, being. Stokeley Hathaway. Willows joy was visible for all two see, and it was glorious. Mercedes Mone came out, and the pair had an excellent promo dual, from subtle digs, to. Willow wanting Mercedes at 100%, which brought in the looming question of. Can she beat Mercedes when she is fully fit? to the l.t.s that has come with this terrority. I liked all of this, but, just one other thing, Who Attacked Mercedes a couple of weeks ago? Here's looking at you Statlander.
Casino Gauntlet Match
Will Osperay, beat. Jay White. Dante Martin.Penta. Kyle O'reily. Lance Archer, and Kommander, in a fun Gauntlet match. He will now face Roderick Strong at Double Or Nothing, for the International Championship. Strong came out with his Undisputed Kingdom faction, for a stair down. All isn't right with the Damn It Don Callis Family.
Chris Jericho segment
Look. I don't know what to make of this, other. Come on kids lets go sit under Chris Jericho's learning tree. His promo wasn't great at all. His delivery felt forced, and the fact that Big Bill, has been dragged into this, makes me think. What's the point of this, and one other thing. Please don't have Hook join this group, for the love of him upstairs, don't do that.
Jon Moxley vs Powerhouse Hobbs IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
Jon Moxley retained his IWGP World, beating Powerhouse Hobbs. In a match that I can only describe as a slugfest. And I loved it.
Tony Khan face to face with Jack Perry
This. Was. A great segment, don't get me wrong. I understand that it will have its detractors, but I loved what I saw here. Perry comes out to the ring. He puts over Jacksonville, and then asks Tony Khan to come out. He goes over the times they have had. From setting out to change the world, and the roads they have travelled, to this. Perry asked for a handshake, and to be reinstated. Khan obliged, he shook Perry's hand, put after he raised. Perry attacked him, making him fear for his life. The Elite tried to reason with him, but ended toying with Khan, they ended the segment by giving him, a top rope piledriver. Medics, and talent came out from the back, to help their fallen boss, as. The Elite thanked the Jacksonville fans to end the show.
Overview Of Aew Dynamite
Now this what I call a return to form. I enjoyed all of this. The promos went from bad, to excellent, and the in ring work followed the same direction. This weeks Dynamite is the true meaning of reinvention, as. Tony Khan has started to spin several positive plates, that could have some fascinating outcomes.
This weeks Dynamite is a high 8/10.
