Smacklillision Weekend Round Up

Intro

This week in inthe world of Professional Wrestling, has a conflicting mix bag, from weekly tv for both companies going down the right path, to inapropriate instagram posts being met with wide condemnation, as much as I think that Social Media has a point to it. I also think it has unspoken side, and when it rears its ugly head the world reacts, on thursday, news came out that Tiffany Stratton, liked an unadvised post relating to race, this is something that Tiffany needs to learn from, because actions like this, can have very harmful consequences. Just think before you post.

Bianca Belair vs Tiffany Stratton Queen Of The Ring Tournament Quarterfinal

This. In my opinion, was the best match on the card. Tiffany had some braided fun. The exchanges were fluent throughout, and they led to some great nearfalls. Bianca failed with a kod attempt, she then hit Tiffany with a German suplex. Tiffany tried to perform a ple on Bianca, but she reversed it for the win. Kathy Kelly interviwed Bianca in the ring afterwards, she spoke about her getting injured in the match, and how it won't be a factor next week. Jade Cargill was interviewed by backstage by Byron Saxton, she said that Nia Jax is in her way. Bianca celebrated with her afterwards. I can just see the heel turn coming.

Logan Paul and LA Knight Segment

LA Knight, and. Logan Paul had a face outside the GM Nick Aldis's office. Logan Paul vs LA Knight, is that a match that I would like to see, well. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah, of course.

Tama Tonga vs LA Knight King Of The Ring QuarterFinals

Tama Tonga, beat. LA Knight to advance to the next Semi Finals next week, the match was a bit flat, and didn't live up to their promo, and, segment beforehand. Tama ressemled a junior version of the cartoon Tazmanian devil, whilst Knight was caught getting wound by Carmelo hayes, this would happen again later on in the broadcast.

Champion vs Champion contract signing

I loved this segment, the advancements were great, and it got straight to the point. Nick Aldis, welcomed both men to the ring, and they were a complete study in contrast. Logan his was flanked by his own self indulgence, by coming out with his own entourage, and a lawyer, whilst cody was flanked by the abmiration of the fans, who stood on their feet through this segment. Cody put over his love for Jacksonville, whilst talking through the history Pro Wrestling has with the town, he called Logan a tourist, and when he gets off the train, he should leave his United States Championship. Logan acted bored at the sight of Rhodes, he was booed out of the building, he proceeded to rip up the contract, because he didn't agree to putting his belt on the line. Nick aldis called bulls*** on this, and reminded logan that he did agree to a double Championship match. Nick Aldis looked like he was going to deck Logan, until his smart ass lawyer got involved. Cody tells Nick to step to one side, so he and logan could have a talk. Logan started to berrate Cody, saying that he isn't worthy of the United States Championship, they had a promo dual, that turned into a fight. One of Logans mates got put through a table, whilst logan scarpered, to end the segment

Nia Jax vs Jade Cargill Queen Of The Ring QuarterFinal match

Nia Jax, was backstage being interviewed by Kathy Kelley, and lets just put it this way. I don't think Nia is a big fan of Jades, Cargill would go on to lose to Jax, in their QuarterFinal Match by dq. This was a complete waste of time, and one other thing, leave Jades daughter alone Nia, you big bully.

DIY vs Angel and Humberto

DIY, beat. Angel, and. Humberto in a flat tv match, thanks to Santos Escobars accidental interference.

Chelsea Green and Piper Niven segment

Bayley was being Interviewed backstage, when. Chelsea Green, and. Piper Niven started to act like bored children in the school holidays, they blamed Bayley for Piper losing last week. Oh no, someone call the manager.

Aj Styles segment

AJ Styles continued to sell his confliction of sadness, after recent events, he's going to talk to Nick Aldis next week.

Randy Orton vs Carmelo Hayes King Of The Ring QuarterFinal

I liked this, because was the perfect balance of, the young upstart vs the seasoned veteran, the match ran at a solid pace, with both men getting in their licks, but it was the viper who got the win, and will face the Tazmanian devil next week. The devils family came in the aftermath, and tried to imtimidate Randy, but they failed, because he said, he's going to kick Tama's ass, and then have doctors perform surgery, to get it removed from his ass. Now that's one dirty foot, ugh stinky foot.

Aew Collision

Will Osperay vs Shane Taylor

I liked all of this. Will came out showcasing his fast paced attitude, only for his pace to be nulified by Shane Taylor. Wills passion shone through, and carried him to the win, when he hit a storm driver on Taylor for the win. I'm probably not doing this match any justice, because it was a great balance of styles, also Roderick strong on commentary, was comedy gold. Roddy I hope you make Will pay for those glasses that he broke. Osperay took out the kingdom. Osperay vs Strong next week at the PPV. Aew take my money I don't need it. I mean it's not like I have bills to pay.

Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli segment

The only things that I took away from this segment were that. Jon Moxley is one scary m***********, and. Claudio hates fake people. Takeshista you've been warned. This. Was. Glorious.

Chris Jericho segment

Ugh, another Chris Jericho segment, he was full of praise for Hook, unfortunately I don't have any praise for him.

FTW Contenders Series

Look, i'm going to marry all of this together, because it all happened back to back. Hook, beat. Johny TV in a predictably flat match, whilst Katsuyori Shibata, beat. Rocky Romero, and. Bryan Keith, beat. Boulder in a fun match, that had a whole load of tits, man tits that is. This match made me laugh like a schoolchild. All three men, will face each other on Dynamite this wednesday, in a triple threat match, and the winner will face, ugh. Chris Jericho at the PPV.

Pac segment

Lexi Nair Interviewed Pac, and from the outside I could tell that he's an Iron Maiden fan, because he was in his cold cell, he told her that he doesn't care about The Bang Bang Gang. Jay White, and. The Gunns were seen to have laid out the bastard. Jay told him to stay out of their business.

The Patriarchy segment

I liked this segment. It was confirmed that Nick will face Swerve on Wednesday. And Nick started to recite Britney Spears lyrics, because he's not a boy, not yet a man, am I the only person who thought that, just me, oh well then. Nick wayne would later on beat. Jack Cartwheel, in a flat tv match, and I know what you're all thinking, what's his friend called. Patrick Forward Roll. And just like that, a tumble weed blows by. If christian was my dad, it would make christmas very interesting, he would call me a disapointment, and i'd be fine with that.

Orange Cassidy vs Isiah Cassidy

This. Was. A well paced story led match, that was filled with great detail, from. Damn It Don Callis watching from backstage. Trent Barretta making a cameo appearance, after walking through the fans. Isiah had fun with the steel steps, but. Cassidy counteracted this perfectly, by giving him a backdrop, onto the floor, giving. Cassidy the last laugh. Cassidy hit Isiah with a stun dog millionaire, he went for the beach break, but because of the work that Isiah had done on Oranges back, he could not do the move, what followed was an excellent exchange, that allowed. Cassidy to get the win with a beach break. Lexi Nair, then got a word with Trent, and after he took some personal jibes at Cassidy, he challenged him to a one on one match, at. Double Or Nothing. I liked all of this, and the prospect of heel Orange Cassidy, is still very exciting.

Serena Deeb vs Ana Jay

Serena Deeb, beat. Ana Jay, in a snuggly worked, solid outing. I have to say it. I'm so happy to Serena Deeb back. I love watching her work, and she's one of my favourite female wrestlers to watch, next to. Thunder Rosa. This segment then turned illegal, because Luther committed theft, by nicking Deebs flag, only for him and Marieh May, to use it to help Tony Storm, use it to do her own UFC weigh in striptease. Deeb looked livid as this unfolded.

Bryan Danielson and Ftr vs Lance Archer and The Rightgeous

This. Was. A lofi burner, that I had a lot of fun watching. This quickly shifted into overdrive, and became a good feasible main event, that acted as preperation for what is to come next week. Ftr hit the shatter machine on Dutch for the win. Archer, and his friends then put a beating on the team Aew members, to take the show off the air.

Overview Of The Weekend

Due to my beloved Arsenal not doing what I wanted. Wrestling was the consistant thing this weekend, that didn't let me down, both shows were decent this weekend, and even better. I was left with very little to complain about. Arteta out.

Both shows are a solid 7/10.

 Aew Dynamite Review

With Double Or Nothing, at the time of writing, just ten days away. I've got to say, that I have enjoyed the build up to the show this years show, because it marks the turning point to where Aew are going to go, in the summer months, the teases have already been laced, and the promise that has come from them, is something to get excited about. Over the past few weeks. I have started to get the feeling Aew, are verging on doing something special, because being a wrestling fan, is like supporting my team, the red side of North London. It's easy to get sucked in, because you live with the hope, that things are going to go the way you want. Need I say anymore.

Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson vs Kyle Fletcher and Jeff Cobb

This. Was. A chaotic stomper from the start, and I enjoyed every second of it. The in ring work was the soul focus of the match, giving the matcg time to breathe. Don Callis was used in the right way on commentary, because he acted as the storyteller of the piece. Kyle Fletcher was the unsung hero of the match, putting forward, a great showing for himself, the exchanges were excellent, which led to some great near falls. But it was Moxley who got the win for his team, with a deathrider. Takeshista came out and attacked Mox, causing Claudio to come out, and make the save, complete with a crowbar.

Adam Copeland Segment

The fans in Washington, didn't get to embrace the metalingus pop, because it was interrupted by. The House Of Black. They sent Copeland hurdling down the rampway, and when they got him in the ring, they embraced gang culture, bully boy tactics, akin to a watered version of the attack scene in. A Clockwork Orange, With. Malakai Black taking on the role of. Alex Delarge, taking his faction down the path of vile self indullgence, he in instructed Bubby Matthews, to take off Adams wedding ring. Black cut a promo on Copeland, causing Kyle O'reilly to come out, and get taken out, by. Brody King, and. Malakai Black. Malakai would later on, accept. Copelands challenge for a Barbwire Cage Match, at. Double Or Nothing. This. Was. Brilliant.

The Elite Segment

The Elite, then cut a backstage promo, they bragged about injuring Eddie Kingston, whilst. Okada, threatened Dax Harwood. Nice shoes lads, were can I pick up some of those sick Reeboks, here's hoping I can find them in size 16s, look i'm a tall man with big feet, deal with it. Ftr then told us, they have got someone else in, to take up the fight for the cause.

The Young Bucks vs Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal

This. Was. A mid tempo match, at best, that was hightened by, the match playing into the heels hands. Jack Perry sat on commentary, and antaginised Tony Schiavone. ( that poor man that drink looked awful ) The Physicality was good here, and the over riding arc of the match, was played out well. Matthew, and. Nickolas, got the win, with a TK driver on Daniels, and then those p*****, did the unthinkable, they fired Christopher Daniels. I loved this, they acted like complete smarmy dicks, and it was glorious to see as a viewer.

Hook vs Sebastian Wolf

Hook beat a local jobber, with the red rum, and then called out, ugh sigh. Chris Jericho. Hook said that he wants a shot, at getting his FTW Championship back tonight, to which Jericho replied, nah sorry mate, but if you want it back, then you have to go through a triple threat, this week on Collision. A fight broke, when Hook went for Big Bill, causing Shibata to come out, and make the save. Renee Paquette Interviewed. Hook, and. Shibata, this could lead to something decent further down the line. Enter stage left. Samoa, who tried to put some sense into these lads, but all he got was bodyshamed, by. Shibata. This. Felt needless, pointless and a waste of time, also. Body shaming isn't big or clever, so don't do it, the industry is moving on from type of humour.

Swerve Strickland vs Brian Cage Aew World Title Eliminator

From Swerve's promo, that turned into a walk through shot, the match having a fast paced even flow, both men showcasing their good chemistry, to the realisation of predictability rearing its ugly head. Swerve got the win, with a stomp and house call combo, but it was the aftermath that stole the show. He was about to give cage, a steelchair beatdown, when. Christian Cage's music played, he stepped out on the stage, with Moma Wayne, so that her bastard of a son could attack Swerve from behind. He layed Swerve in the head with a framed picture of his family, busting him open. Cage then cut a promo on him, that was tianted with blood, lst, and family pride. This. Was. Awesome.

Timeless Toni Storm vs Harley Cameron

Timeless Toni Storm, beat. Harley Cameron, in a decent tv match. Serena Deeb came as a top of the rampway spectator, their match at the PPV should be decent, also. Toni Storms promo, from earlier in the night had me howling.

Roderick strong and Will Osperay face to face

Ok guys, no words needed here, because all of this was excellent.

Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone contract signing

I'm not the biggest fan of contract signing segments, because I feel the concept has been completely bastardised to death, but this was decent, both ladies counteracted each other perfectly, delving into their history, with fire, and grace, A fight broke out to end the segment, and Mercedes left, probably feeling red faced, after she was powerbomded through a table, by. Nightingale. You love to see it.

Kazuchika Okada vs Dax Harwood Aew Continental Crown

This. Was. A brilliant main event match. Both men put on a well paced clinic, with woven in added detail, and high level physicality, that garnered a well deserved, this is awesome chant from the fans. The Exchanges were great, and the near falls were flawless, but it was Okada who retained his crown, by hitting Dax with a rainmaker for the win. The Elite came out, to put a beating on the fallen Dax, so out came the rest of team Aew, to make the save, but their was only 3 of them, this paved the way for a returning Darby Allin, to come out, prompting Tony Schiavone to say, is he the forth man, just like he did 28 years ago, at the start of the NWO. This. Was. A great way to end the show.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

Now that the summer months are here, all eyes are looking at. WWE, and Aew's booking directions, and coming of the back of three weeks worth of solid tv, after. Tony Khan lost his mind. I think it's safe to say that Aew, have found their feet again, in my opinion, and with All In on the horizon, in the coming months, now is the time for Aew to keep moving forward, and don't look back, and on the grounds of this weeks Dynamite, and last weeks Collision. I think their striving to do just that.

This Weeks Aew Dynamite is solid 8/10

Monday Night Raw Review 14.5.2024

Intro

I'm going to be honest. I'm not the biggest fan of wrestling tournaments, but. This. King And Queen Of Ring run through, that WWE has been showcasing at the minute, has actually been enjoyable. It's balance of predictability, and unpredictability, has been perfectly balanced, and has confirmed my belief that the bygone era of standard booking, is a thing of the past. And long may it stay there.

Drew Mcintyre Segment

I liked all of this, from. Drews continuous walk through shot, to him delivering a promo, that came from the gut, with fire. He took shots at Punks Aew run, he called the fans gullable, for taking punk back, time after time, like a bad partner in a relationship, he called out Jey Uso and laughed at him for wasting his title oppotunity. But, he was more interested in Damien Priest. The Leader of The Judgement Day came out, and the pair had a great Promo dual. Drew paid respect to all of Priests achievements, but then put a dark cloud over them, when he said, he wasn't a real champ. Priest said that Drew should blame himself, for what happened at Wrestlemania, because Punk has taken over all of his importance. Priest then gave Drew a shot at his belt. This. Was. Brilliant, and great set up for Clash At The Castle. This Could be Drews Crowning.

Queen and King Of The Ring Tournament Matches

Ok. Before I get into this. I have to appologise. I'm having marry all of these matches together, due to work in my day job. Iyo Sky, beat. Shayna Baszler. Lyra Valkyria, beat. Zoey Stark, whilst over on the opposite side of sex divide. Gunther, beat. Kofi Kingston, and. Jey Uso, beat. Ilja Dragunov, in what was a solid main event. I'm going to give my thoughts on that, later on.

Judgement Day Segment

Damien Priest, told the rest of. The Judgement Day, that Carlito, that apple chomping menace, isn't welcome in The Judgement Day. JD would later try to threaten Braun Strowman. And the academy award for the dumbest person on this night is? I'll let you decide.

The Alpha Academy Segment

Chad Gable is a right p**** isn't he, Master Gable put members of his faction into unwinable matches, in order to weaken his opponents, ahead of his triple threat match, at the. King and Queen Of The Ring PLE, against. Sami Zayn, and. Bronson Reed. Tazawa would lose to Reed, and. Otis would lose to Zayn. In later matches, and one other thing. Leave Maxine alone Mr Gable, you Kurt Angle wannabe, yes. It's true. It's true. This man has no intelligence, or integrity. I'm loving Chad Gable as a heel.

R Truth Segment

Oh that R Truth, he has a perfect habit for putting his foot in his mouth, his caused Adam Pearce, to announce a fatal 4 way No1 Contenders match, for the. Tag Team Championships later on. Kiana James has a bright future, whilst I understand Bron Breakkers frustration.

Dakota Kai vs Becky Lynch

This. Was. A complete waste of time, it was thrown out, after. Damage Ctrl got involved. Lyra Valkyria made the save, but. Liv Morgan came out, and battered lynch. I think i've answered my own question. Liv Morgan doesn't like Knuckle club Sandwiches.

Fatal 4 way Tag Team No1 Contenders Match

I liked all of this, however I did feel this was a tad predictable. Finn and Mcdonagh, brought the win back to their faction, by beating. AOP. The New Catch Republic, and. The Crede Brothers, in a fun match, thanks to that apple chomping menace Carlito. Priest then started to come round on the fruit lover. Now that's cool.

My Thoughts On The Main Event

I enyoyed the main event, but it's promise, to me, left me feeling a bit letdown. Now don't get me wrong. Jey Uso vs Gunther, should bang. I just feel that WWE tried to dangle a carrot in front of my face, only to take it away. Back late 2020, when the world was in a differant state, The unwanted greed of the wrestling industry, was having a mixed year, from having to cancel dates, due to the health situation that had gripped the world, Allegations that caused me to not want to invest my time in their output, but. When you dig beneath the surface. Something brewed, that would end up proving to be an indie darling match, being put on national tv, for the british public to consume. And it was glorious. Ilja Dragunov vs Walter. ( now Gunther ) This would become a heavily praised masterpiece, from all corners of the industry. I think HHH has missed a trick, not booking this, for his vision of what The main roster now looks like.

Overview Of Monday Night Raw

This. Weeks Monday Night Raw, was a solid outing, with very little stale mates

Smackllision Weekend Round Up

Intro

As last week has become a distant memory, some atributes of a nasty bygone era, have creeped back into existance, when, Skye Blue, and. Lauren Ellering, were subjected to awful sexist abuse, at the hands of a fan at ringside. I hate having to talk about issues like this. Were in 2024, and some men still think it's ok to act with priviledge. Aubrey Edwards did a great job, and all three ladies were praised backstage, by. Aew officials, for how they handled the situation. This type of behavior isn't welcome in this industry, the days of, fans, and promoters, using this business, to promote mysoginistic views are over, yes attitudes have changed, but, like I always say. In order to be human, we have to act human, it's really not that difficult.

Nick Aldis segment

Our Smackdown GM Nick Aldis, wasted no time in bringing out, our. WWE Universal Champion. Cody Rhodes. Cody basked in fans adjulation, but that soon  changed, when. Aldis told him, who his next challenger will be, and out came. Logan Paul. Both men had a great face to face, which led to an awesome promo dual. From pure arrogance, to utter believibility, their verbal back and forth was great. Logan put over all of his achievements. Best Rookie year in WWE history, and of course how he got there. Cody thought back, by referencing his achievements, regaurding his boxing career, his social media out put, and of course, his career as a drinks salesmen. Cody called him a dumbass, whilst questioning his own fortitude. The direction that's on display here I like, belt vs belt, sign me up. One other thing people. Don't drink Prime, It tastes like a beaten down soul.

Aj Styles Kayla Braxton segment

Kayla Braxton Interviewed. AJ Styles, he said that he wants to get back to facing. Cody for the belt, and winning the King Of The Ring Tournament, and beating Randy Orton, would be a good step. Randy counteracted this perfectly later on. Am I the only person, who thinks that AJ is acting like a big cry baby, Wah wah wah. I lost to Cody woe is me.

Queen Of The Ring Tournament Round ! Naomi vs Nia Jax

I liked all of this, the in ring work was solid, and fast paced, it was a gift, that reminded of a funny time, from back in the pandemic. Naomi got the win, and advances to the next round.

Baron Corbin Segment and King Of The Ring 1st Round vs Carmelo Hayes

Baron Corbin was backstage being interviewed by. Kayla Braxton, when. Carmelo Hayes came into shot. He looked like he was having fun, at the former lone wolfs expense. Carmelo, would go on to beat Baron, to advance to the Quarter Finals of the tournament.

Bayley segment and Piper Niven vs Jade Cargill

Bayley was being Interviewed by. Kayla Braxton, she was asked, who she  would she like to face? But in stepped. Chelsea Green, and. Piper Niven. Chelsea took time to wind up Bayley, ahead of Pipers match against. Jade Cargill. Cargill would go on to beat Niven, in their Queen Of The Ring 1st Round match. Some people should stay quiet.

Bianca Belair vs Candace Lerae Queen Of The Ring Tournament 1st Round

This. Was. Over way to soon, and was way to predictable. Bianca got the win, and advances to the Quarter Finals. Yeah. I don't know what else to say.

The Bloodline segment

The Bloodline just got scarier. I loved all of this. The aspect of what is to come when Roman returns, to try and reclaim his throne. Solo turned into Jax Teller, nothing is ok here. From Pauls lies, to Solo, giving faulse him hope. All of this was great, and a solid glimpse into where, WWE are going with this story.

1st Round Of The King Of The Ring Angelo Dawkins vs Tama Tonga

Even though. The match was two short, and predictable, it was enjoyable. From Montez Ford athletisism, and then getting taken out, which led to Dawkins taking the loss, to the awesome presentation of Tama Tonga. This is how you reinvent a stable, and just like that. The Bloodline just got scarier, and it's going to be great viewing.

Aj Styles vs Randy Orton 1st Round King Of The Ring Tournament

This. Was. A well worked main event, with solid in ring work, but what would you expect, when it's worked by these seasoned veterans, they showcased their great chemistry, and physicality, the near falls were well timed, and the final exchanges, gave Randy room to hit AJ with an RKO from out of nowhere, for the win. The Tournament continues on Monday night.

Aew Collision

Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli vs Top Flight

I liked this. It felt like a perfect match of veterans helping younger talent, and younger talent learning, and loving every second of it. The match was a physical battle, that was enjoyable, from beginning to end. Danielson got the win for his team, and then proceeded to cut a promo, that was an electric bolt to my system, he praised his opponents, the fans, and.Tony Khan, whilst laying the truth about The Young Bucks, because he loves this business, and most importantly, he loves Aew. This was great.

Will Osperay vs Lee Moriarty

Even though, this wasn't the strongest will Osperay match, that I have ever seen. It's still awesome. It's a bit like your favourite band releasing a new album, that's still good, but it's not as good, as the rest of their back catalogue. This match was like comparing Metallica's 72 Seasons, to. Master Of Puppets. The match had a nice eb, and flow to it. Roderick Strong on commentary had me laughing, the physicality that was on display was great, and Will picked up the win. Shane Taylor put a beating on Will in the aftermath. As you can tell i'm a big Metallica fan.

C.E.O Segment

Mercedes Mone was seen, throwing out the first pitch in the world series, for the Boston Red Sox. Look I'm British so I don't get baseball.

Gates Of Agony and brian cage vs Evan Rivers and The Voros Twins

Gates Of Agony, and. Brian Cage, beat. Evan Rivers, and. The Voros Twins in a squash match. Cage then cut a promo on Swerve, calling him, and Nana selfish, claiming all they did was take take take, he then praised his higher power. The Elite. Swerve then came out, he went all out chain crazy, he attacked his former faction friends. Toa Leona, took the brunt of it, when Swerve resorted to one of his old tricks, using a cynder block, to take him out. Swerve cut a promo on Cage challenging him to a match, this week on Dynamite, this Wednesday. I liked all of this. Swerve's visceral anger could be felt through my chromecast. I think it's safe to say, that vengence makes this man happy, and not Skittles. Skittles people Skittles. Their the route of all happiness.

Daniel Garcia vs Km

Daniel Garcia, beat. Km, in another squash match. I know what you're thinking. Just what type of name is Km. You know what, forget about his name, because his dance moves are f****** awful. I mean what was this.

Dax Harwood vs Dynamite Kid Tommy Billington

I've seen online, that this match has been met with a lot positivity, i'm not sure that I feel the same way, to me this match failed to get started. The one thing I hope is that Tommy doesn't have the same traits as his uncle. A man who's not the picture of chasidy and virtue, but i'm not the type of person who thinks ,that you should cast the sins of the uncle, onto the nephew. Dax got the win, look I get why some people liked this. I just feel this resembled a car, that failed to get into first gear.

The Elite Backstage footage

The Cameras caught up with The Elite, after Dynamite went off the air last week. Jack Perry put over his disatisfaction with the company. Okada called out Dax Harwood, and. The Young Bucks, bit off more than what they can chew, when they started on Christopher Daniels. The Fallen Angel, and. Matt Sydal, will face them on Dynamite this wednesday, and. Dax Harwood will face Kazuchika Okada. Dynamite sounds alright for this week doesn't it.

Thunder Rosa vs Robyn Renegade

Thunder Rosa, beat. Robyn Renegade, in a standard tv match. This. Was decent.

Cope Ope TNT Championship Adam Copeland vs Kyle O'reilly

I loved this match. The fans were electric from the start, and throughout, when two of Canada's finest went to war. The Physicality allowed for the story of, can Kyle win the big one shine through. Both men gave everything. Copeland retained his belt with a sphere. And one other thing. Nigel Mcguiness on commentary, was simply chef's kiss.

Overview Of The Weekend

I know that when I say this, i'm going to be one in a majority. Both shows were steady middle of the road shows, good, but with shimmers of excellence.

Both of this weekends shows are 8/10

Aew Dynamite Review 8.5.2024

Intro

Bright lights are ready to burn, and set my soul on fire. Viva Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas. Viva, oh. Viva Las Vegas. Why am I starting of this review singing like the king? this past Saturday. It was confirmed that WWE Wrestlemania 41 would be emmulating from the home of, gambling, awful singers, doing awful residentcies, and of course. Their world famous $ 4.99 steak and eggs buffet. I have mixed feelings about this. I understand that WWE want to embrace warmer weather, to appease Netflix, their new business partner, but what does this mean for Aew. Just one month later, it would the time of year that Aew holds their signature PPV. Double Or Nothing, which has been held in Vegas, Including this years 4 times, this could split the market down the middle, and that's not always a good thing from a business metric. Aew. Stateside, has seen a slight increase in their ticket revenue, but it's only by a small number, so this could have a lasting impact, that will split the audience down the divide. Personally. I hope this doesn't happen, because tribalism is a nasty thing.

Adam Copleland segment

Adam Copeland. Was seen showing up to the arena, and he told Brody King their match for the TNT Championship, will be a. No Dq match, more on that later.

Orange Cassidy vs Trent Barretta

I liked this. From Both men fighting in the fans. Trent taking an awkward knee bump, coming over a guardrail. Damn It Don Callis coming out, and sitting on commentary, the fans showed their distain for him, in his home country, whilst. Trent verbally berrated Cassidy. Trent gave Cassidy multiple piledrivers, but it wasn't enough, because. Cassidy got the win, with a roll up. This made the former Best Friend seeth with anger, he proceeded to attack Orange, he gave him a piledriver on the steel steps, he gave his throat some extreme acupuncture, thanks to the underpart of the ring. But the sight of Trent wanting to take Cassidys head off, with a car battery, was awesome, because it showed the intent he was willing to inflict. Kris Statlander, and. Damn It Don Callis, would act as mediators. This. Was great, and the looming calling of a heel Orange Cassidy, is very exciting.

The Elite segments

The Elite were then spotted in footage recorded earlier in the night, showing up to the venue, and taking. Tony Khans parking space. Jack Perry cut a promo after last weeks show went off the air, he called. Kenny Omega, a coward, telling him, he's not a hero, and that The Elite are going to change the world without him. We then heard from the best bout machine, who was sitting in his hospital bed. From the importance of family, to the pressent day, he spoke about his former friends, saying that their not the only evps, so he made the match for. Double Or Nothing. The Elite vs Team Aew. Anarchy In The Arena. This. Is. Going to be crazy. I can just feel it.

Serena Deeb segment

I liked this. From the fans doubt seeping into Deeb, to her losing not being an option, to the awful life threatening seizures, that have plagued her over the past year, to her interaction with the Timeless one Toni Storm. Their promo dual was great, funny, and fiery. Storm tried to get a cheap shot in on Deeb, but the professor counteracted this, by sparking her out, ok. Just a quick reminder. Don't piss off Serena Deeb. It's moments like this, that I feel sorry for Tony Schiavone.

Marieh May vs Harley Cameron

Ok. I'm going to be honest. I didn't like this. The match felt way to formulaic for my liking. May won, and she celebrated with her drinking friend. Mina Shirakowa. Don't get me wrong. I think it's great the women got this slot. I just feel that Aew can do much better than this.

Pac segment

I don't have a lot to say about this other than. Pac vs Jay White. Yes please, oh and Colton Gunns Geordie accent is horrible.

The Elite video package

Ok. Whatever smart person thought of this in the production meeting, give he, or she a pay rise. I loved this, it was corny. It was self indulgent, but most importantly. It was genius.

Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage

Swerve Strickland was out next, and if I said that he was a Skittles bag of happiness, then I would be telling lies. He talked about not blaming Cage for what he did last week, because he has done the same thing in the past, because if you want to get to the top, you've got to take out the person at the top, so he wasted no time in calling out, the all round nicest man in the world, and his family. Cage played on the fans local sports team, who were in the Stanley Cup Final, ( i'm British I don't get Ice Hockey ) for local sports team heat. He told Swerve that he's going to take something away from him, each week, untill there is nothing left, as his wave of momentum ends, at the feet of Christian Cage. Swerve said that he did'nt come alone, instepped the rest of his Embassy faction. Cage also said that when he looks in the mirror, he can still see gold in his teeth. Cage threatens to remove them, I think he has a second career as a dentist. Swerve goads Christian, and at that point. The Embassy turn on Swerve, by attacking him, and putting him through the announcers table. The Embassy has sold there souls to Cage, proving my point. These men, like Bart Simpson, have no souls. Cage and his family were seen backstage, with. The Elite. Does this mean that Hangman Adam Page is on his way back?

Willow Nightingale segment

Willow Nightingale was being interviewed backstage, and this lady is ready for Mercedes, but is Mercedes ready for her. Our C.E.O counteracted this later on in the show.

Jay White vs Rocky Romero

Jay White, beat. Rocky Romero in a standard tv match, that had my NJPW loving heart skipping multiple beats.

Samoa Joe segment

Former Aew World Heavyweight Champion. Samoa Joe, cut a promo whilst working out. Fear is how he falls, because other men fear him. I think he's a big Linkin Park fan, if so, then this man has great taste in music.

The Learning Tree vs Mojabi and Harlen Abbott

This. Was. A waste of time. The Learning Tree got the win, thanks to Big Bill doing all the work. And. Chris Jerichos promo afterwards was a botched filled mess.

Adam Copeland vs Brody King No Dq match for the TNT Championship

This. Match. Was a bloodsoaked war, and I loved it. From the physicality being perfectly performed, the table tease. Kings knees meeting a barricade. Copeland giving him a ddt on the apron, onto that busted him open, a steel bar being used for a crossface submission, a this is awesome chant echoing throughout the arena, to. Copeland putting king away with a sphere, coming after he was sphered through a table. Kyle O'reilly came out to make the save, and get into Copelands good graces, so he can have a title shot on Collision.

The Elite end the show

I loved this ending. The Elite came out, they had an important message for Kenny Omega. Okada wished a speedy recovery, whilst Matt Jackson verbally laid into him. Matt also said that. Tony Khan gave them no choice in doing what they, because they want to make this company great again. Nick Jackson then agreed to the match. Ftr came out, but they were'nt alone, because they brought with them. Bryan Danielson, and everyone's favourite raving nutter. Eddie Kingston. The Elite vs Team Aew. Anarchy In The Arena, at. Double Or Nothing. Yes please.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

I liked this weeks Dynamite. It feels like storylines are developing nicely as we head into the summer months, when all roads will lead to Wembley. With the segments ranging from, good, to bad, and the in ring action remaining consistant.

This weeks Dynamite is a solid 8/10.

Weekend Round Up 3.5. to 4.5 2024

Intro

In our year of 2024, we have seen upheaval, we've seen, major fan backlash, an icon has retired, a former C.E.O has fall even further into the depths of cancellation, and an owner of a company, has brought his empire further into the fallstate. But, what I think is important, the globalisation of wrestling as a genre. This weekend. WWE are bringing a major PLE to mainland Europe, when Lyon. France. Will host. WWE Backlash, and in my personal opinion, this is a good thing. Back in late 2021. WWE announced that they will be bringing a major PLE to the UK. The PLE was called. Clash At The Castle. Cardiff would hold the event, at the time this was one of the biggest shows to take place on these shores. And what has happened since then, is the start of something special, with more territories soon to be on the horizon. Stay tuned, because things are going to get interesting.

Smackdown

8 Woman Tag Match

Bayley. Naomi. Jade Cargill, and. Bianca Belair, beat. Damage Ctrl, and. Tiffany Stratton, in a fun, and well worked opening match. The fans were electric here, and there energy could be felt from the start of the broadcast, until the very end. Bianca, was backstage later on, with her team, and her anger was palpable. Bianca, eat a snickers, because your not you, when your hungry.

Theory and Waller

A Town Down Under. Austin Theory and. Grayson Waller, were backstage, and both boys said, that they could smell a scent, no lads it's not the Street Profits smoke, you can smell, its s***, check your locker room toilet.

Carmelo Hayes. Bobby Lashley segment

Carmelo Hayes, was backstage talking to Nick Aldis, when. Bobby Lashley stepped in, he tried to give Carmelo some advice, but the young and hungry dog, wasn't interested.

New Catch Republic vs AOP

Aop, beat. The New Catch Republic, in a fun tv match, that had its moments, from. Tyler Bate proving why he is called a big strong boy, when he swung akom, over his head, to AOP proving that dominance, is power, and getting the win, by slamming Bate.

Paul Heyman and Nick Aldis segment

This. Was. Genuinely excellent. Paul Heyman was talking backstage with Nick Aldis. Heyman told Aldis, for the benefit of. Kevin Owens, and. Randy Orton, their match against. Solo Sikoa, and. Tama Tonga, must be pulled from the show. Aldis told paul, he wasn't going to do that, he then admitted, to Aldis, he was the one who removed Roman Reigns from the Draft. The Smackdown GM realed in the shock, and asked one question, why? Paul said. that it would not be a good idea, with The Bloodline in the shape that it's in.

RKO Show segment

I liked all of this. Both. Randy, and. Kevin came out. Randy, and had fun with the fans. Kevin spoke in French, whilst Randy basked in the fans admiration, both men welcomed us to the first RKO Show. Paul Heyman came out. He gave both men a slice wisdom, he said that. The Bloodline is under new rules, brought in by solo and Tama, and it would be in their best interests, to not take the match tomorrow. Randy had a question for the wiseman. Who's the real Tribal Chief? Solo, and. Tama then attacked. Randy, and. Kevin Owens, security came out, and tried to control the chaos, but, they failed, because the fight would end the broadcast later on. The fans were eletric for this.

LA Knight vs Angel

LA Knight, beat. Angel in a standard tv match, he then announced himself for the king of the ring tournament, this didn't sit well with. Santos Escobar.

Carlito segment

Carlito, was being interviewed by. Byron Saxton, he tried to explain his actions for attacking Dragon Lee, that was until Lee, got his own back, and attacked him, from out of nowhere.

Atown Down Under vs The Street Profits WWE Tag Team Championship

Atown Down Under, retained their Tag Team Championships, by beating. The Street Profits, in a standard tv match. I thought the match was a bit flat if i'm honest, the action was decent, but overall the whole thing felt, a bit lofi.

Cody and AJ face to face

I loved this segment, from. Cody wearing his heart for all to see. AJ accused Cody, for not being focused enough. Both men put over the face, and, heel dynamic perfectly, from their history, of running the same roads. AJ calling the fans disrespectful, and him bringing all of Codys achievement into focus, just added an extra layer of excitement, to what is going to be a predictable match, you could say it's going to be, two sweat. AJ ended the segment by saying, what does the five fingers say to the face, slap. Be still my NJPW loving heart.

WWE Backlash

Kevin Owens and Randy Orton vs Solo  Sikoa and Tama Tonga

This. Was. A shot of adrenaline to the senses, and a great way to start the show. Both teams started the fight, before the bell rang, security came running down to the ring, and were all taken out, Kevin Owens stunned multiple members of the team, forcing Smackdown GM. Nick Aldis, to come out, and throw his hands in the metephorically, and tell'em that, this match is now a street fight, and my god it was bats*** crazy, from both teams fighting in the crowd. Randy smashing Tama onto the announcers table. Kevin put Tama through a table, with a frogsplash. Randy also went through a table, when Solo hit him with a Samoan Backdrop. Solo also had some table acupuncture, thanks to Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens hit a sick looking Brainbuster to Tama, putting him a through a bed of steel chairs, but the near fall was broken up, when. Tama's brother Tonga Loa showed up. This gave Solo Sikoa the chance to get the win for his team, by giving Kevin a Samoan spike for the win. The Bloodline is now even stronger, and even more visceral than ever.

WWE Womens Championship Match Bayley vs Naomi vs Tiffany stratton

This. Match worked as an advertisement for the developmental system, It was a three way mental game of chess, with built in bursts of energy, that allowed all three ladies to hit their stride, the physicality was timed to perfection, this allowed the match to have time to breathe. Tiffany Stratton had a fantastic showing here, the final exchanges, saw. Bayley take the win by roll up. I liked all of this.

Damien Priest vs Jey Uso WWE Heavyweight Championship

I liked all of this. Jeys entrance was a sight to be seen, when french fans held the phones up in salute to the loan Uso. Both mens styles meshed together well, the match was heavily story led, thanks to. JD Mcdonagh, and Finn Balor, coming out. But overall this was a decent showcase for Priest. The physicality, and, chemistry, between both men was clear to see, this allowed the match to run its course, and please the fans in attanence. Priest retained his Championship, in an enjoyable match.

WWE Record Gate Announcement

The WWE then announced that over the past two nights. WWE have broken their own record for an indoor arena show. This. Was. Fantastic to hear. But for all french fans in attendence. I don't think your bank balances are going to thank you, anytime soon.

The Kabuki Warriors vs Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill WWE Womens Tag Team Championship Match

This to me, was a lofi burner, that took a while to get going, but when it did, it felt like it was over to soon. Bianca, and. Jade got the win, and they're now our new WWE Womens Tag Team Championship. I don't know what else to say.

Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles WWE Undisputed

This match was brilliant, the fans were electric throughout the show, but here, they were on another level. Both men benefitted from this, the fans became the focal point of the match, acting like a fourth man in the ring, making this a must see, and a treat for fans, who were watching from home. The two Georgia boys had a fantastic barn dance of a match, the physicality helped weave the story, of anything you can do. I can do better. Cody, and. AJ dug deep into their arsenal, in order to make magic happen, and the fans lapped it up. The near falls were timed to perfection, and the final exchange, saw. Cody retain his Championship with a cross Rhodes.

Overview Of The Weekend

From Smackdown acting like, eating a desert before your main course, whilst Saturdays PLE, took the form of a delicous steak and chips, that just kept on coming, even after I was full. This weekend has been a blast, that I have enjoyed, so here's hoping, that WWE can do this again, when Scotland, and. Germany, come a calling later this summer. either way, these times they are a changing.

Friday Night Smackdown is a high 7/10.

And Backlash 2024 is a high 9/10.

Aew Dynamite Review 2.5.2024

Intro

Agh yes. The Road to. Double Or Nothing. Over the past few years. I have enjoyed the build to this event, and so far, things are looking good. The Elites Succession esc protocols are proving to be a great story device, and all of the ramifications from that, which could have devastaing consequences, and exciting promise, over the next few months. This. Is, going to be great viewing, and I can't wait to see everything unfold.

Tony Khan Introduction

Tony Khan tried to give an update on his health, live from the Jacksonville Jaguars headquarters, but before he could mention. The Elite. Matthew, and. Nicholas took over, and cut his feed. They explained, that he can't fire them, because of a claws in their contract, and from this point on, they would be taking over the show. Renee Paquette, interviewed The Elite later on in the show. Matthew, and. Nicholas stepped aside, so that. Jack Perry could explain his actions for last week. He put over the fact that Tony Khan used him as a sacrifice, which brought forward his scapegoat persona, huh, sacrifice. Jack Perry, is clearly a Creed fan. This. Would. Be act as great storythread, that would run throughout the show. I loved all of this.

Swerve Strickland segment

I loved all of this. Swerve spoke from the heart, and it was great to see. Strickland spoke from the heart, saying his actions over the past week, are that of a true fighting Champion. He called out The Elite, saying what they did last week was a bitch move. Matthew, and. Nicholas, then appeared on screen, and told him who his Number one contender will be. Christian Cage came out, he proceeded to cut Swerve down to this, whilst levelling up some lst, based on revenge, and humiliation. Cage, and his family, then attacked Swerve. Cage stood over Strickland whilst delivering his words. Nana took a good chunk of the abuse.

Adam Copeland vs Bubby Matthews

I didn't like this. I thought it was slow, and lethargic. Copeland retained his belt, but what came next was even more farsical. Copeland attacked Matthews, with a steelchair, but, before he was about to give him a concerto. The lights went out, and when they came back on. Malakai Black was standing their taunting copeland, with Matthews joining in. Later in the evening. Kyle O'reilly was seen eyeing up Copelands Championship.

Samoa Joe vs Isiah Cassidy

Samoa Joe wrecked Isiah Cassidy, in a short tv match. This. Was. Decent, but not great, because to me this says, that. Aew have no plans for Joe.

Skye Blue segment

Skye Blue, then said that she wants a shot at. Willow Nightingale TBS Championship. Willow would later on answer this, oh and one other thing. Can I please have more Stokeley Hathaway on my tv please.

Orange Cassidy segment

I liked all of this. It's rare that Orange Cassidy gives promos, but when he does, it feels like a real treat, and this was no differant, however it was tinged with a sad thread of reality. He spoke from the heart, as he dug in deep, when telling us fans, that, due to Chucks injury that he sustained during the Parking Lot Brawl, he has been told that his wrestling career is over, he then called out. Trent Barretta. But. Trent cut him off, calling him selfish, and an attention seeker. Cassidy took this to heart, and went for Trent. A team load of security came out to seperate them, and just as Cassidy was about to leave, out came. Damn Don Callis, who took him away. This. Is. Very promising. Heel Cassidy. Yes please.

Chris Jericho vs Katsuyori Shibata FTW Championship

Even though i'm not the biggest fan of Chris Jericho these days. I had a lot of fun watching this at 8.30 in the morning. From hockey pucks, being used as weapons, both men exchanging chops, making their chests look like roast ham. Jericho taking trash can headbutts, and both men having a sit down lightsaber battle with kendo sticks, was a delight. Jericho got the win. after Big Bill got involved, Chokeslamming Shibata through a table. This. Was. Enjoyable, but I still feel that Jerichos act, has become stale to its bare bones. But, just one other thing. If you don't think that Chris taking a shot to the balls, with a kendo stick isn't funny, then I don't know what to tell you, other than. like Bart Simpson, you've got not soul.

Claudio Castagnoli vs Brian Cage

Claudio Castagnoli, beat. Brian Cage in a decent tv match, by submission. He also gave a great promo in footage from after Collision, whilst he was walking to his renter car. If only he had bags from Tesco.

Marieh May vs Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb, beat. Marieh May in a decent tv match. She will now face. Toni Storm at. Double Or Nothing. This. Was. Decent.

Kenny Omega segment

For the first time in six months, we saw. Kenny Omega. Kenny has been away recovering from diverticulitis, and his promo, was rivetting, and emotional, in equal measure. He talked about the hell he has gone, from the prospect of retirement, and the real worry about his long term health. He put over the wrestlers, who put the company on their back, in his absense, and called out his former friends, and complete s*** bags. The Elite. This. Was. When Kazuchika Okada came out. The visual of both men facing each other was awesome. Fans were on side from the start. Chanting. This is awesome. Okada called himself the best bout machine, this set up something that every wrestling wants. Okada vs Omega 5. Kenny told Okada, to give him a few months. Which could mean. Forbidden Door, or possible. All In at Wembley Stadium, either way i'm very excited. But all of this was a rouse. Jack Perry attacked Kenny from behind. The Elite came and gave their former friend, an evp trigger, to end the broadcast, but the beat down continued afterwards on Rampage. Kenny was stretchered out of the arena, and whilst he was being taken to the back. The Elite hijacked his stretcher to end the attack. This. Was. Brilliant. And a great way to end the show.

Overview Of Aew Dynamite

I know this episode of Dynamite, has got its detractors, and I understand all the complaints, but. I enjoyed most of. The in ring work, went from, poor to good, whilst the segments stole the show.

This weeks Aew Dynamite is a solid 7/10.

My Top 5 Worst UFC Injuries. Intro. No one likes looking at injuries, especially in MMA, as the octagon has played host to several nasty mom...
