Smacklillision Review
Intro
As the week has gone on, Both major. North American wrestling companies, are starting to rally their troops. With massive PLE, and. PPV events coming up, and as a fan, the one thought that comes to my mind is? I love the summer. Wrestling has a special appeal at this time of year, now I know that's a hot take, but that's how I see things. This is going to be one hell of a summer, so strap yourself, and enjoy the ride.
Smackdown
The Bloodline Segment
The Show kicked off with The Bloodline coming, because it was time to annoint Tonga Loa. Paul Heyman, said that in the absense of our Tribal Chief. Solo Sikoa is the. Head Of The Table, and his right hand man is Tama Tonga. Solo welcomed his family into the fold, like a tv gangster, he then used the tool that his cousin taught him, imtimidation, he spoke to Paul in a patronising tone, when he made him say thank you to the Tonga Boys, for saving him last week, from Kevin Owens. Tama told us that this was brought in, by orders of the Peaky Blinders. I mean the Tribal Chief. Paul told Solo that Kevin is furious, because, he saw Kevin earlier in the day, this brought out KO, with The Street Profits, a fight broke out to end the segment. Solo was then later on heard giving Paul his marching orders. I liked all of this.
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair vs Candace Lerae and Indi Hartwell
With. Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark, and. The Unholy Alliance watching on at ringside. Jade Cargill, and. Bianca Belair, beat. Indi Hartwell and Candace Lerae, in a flat and boring tv match.
Nick Aldis and Cody Rhodes Segment
Nick Aldis was trying to calm down Cody Rhodes, who was seething in the car park, waiting for AJ Styles, but he couldn't get through to him, he then bumped into LA Knight, and. Carmelo Hayes, this pair had another verbal spairing session. Knight was told that. Logan Paul, wasn't in the arena tonight.
Johnny Gargano vs Grayson Waller
Johnny Gargano, beat. Grayson Waller in a solid tv match, we need to see more of Gargano having singles matches on tv, because he's pure gold.
Cody Rhodes Segment
This. Segment was awesome, and it didn't waste anytime in getting to the point. After Nick Aldis failed to get through to him. Cody Continued to haunt the car park, like a man posessed. Nick came into shot, flanked with security, that will soon end up on NXT. Nick Aldis told Cody that AJ is on his way, he then turned up. Cody walked through to the arena, in a great continuous shot, when he got to the ring he called out AJ, He then came out with Gallows and Anderson, the NXT Hopefuls then followed. AJ taunted Cody, acting like a person who's been stripped of any personality, he told Cody to give him what he wants. the WWE Undisputed Championship. Cody retaliated by telling him that in Glasgow next Saturday, he's going to make him say I Quit. Nick Aldis gave this the thumbs up.
LA Knight vs Carmelo Hayes
LA Knight, beat. Carmelo hayes in a solid tv match. I could watch these two for longer than this. Logan Paul, then gave the megastar a message. From LA, he's at a tetris tornament, and told him that he will never face him, or win his United States Championship. His impersonation of Knight was spot on. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah. Am I the only person that thinks that Tetris is for nerds, but. Patrick you're a nerd, oh yeah so I am.
Tiffany Stratton Nia Jax and Michin segment
Tiffany Stratton managed to piss off Queen Nia, who then had a fight with Michin. Now I like Queen Nia, and I like Michin, but which one is better, there's only one way to find out, fiiiiiggghhht. Next week should be interesting.
Bayley Segment
I'm not sure what to make of this. Bayley came out, she said some home truths, about Piper Niven, but before she could finish her first sentence, she was greated by. Chelsea Green, and. Piper Niven. Chelsea tried to act as Pipers mouth piece, because. Chelsea wants the belt for herself, that was when Piper, took the microphone, and started to talk about her history, she spoke with passion, and conviction, and with great believibility, but my question is this. Over the years I've watched Piper cut promos on her own, in various differant Indie promotions on youtube, and she has done a great job, so why did she need a mouthpiece? I just don't get it. Bayley's history is always something that I like to go back and look at, because I think it's a perfect mirror image, of how far the performer has come over the years. Their interaction was great. I just don't understand why WWE have chosen this moment, when she's been on their main roster for nearly three years at this point to let her talk on her own.
The Street Profits and Kevin Owens vs The Bloodline
Even though this match ended with a dq finish. I had a lot of fun watching it. From Montez ford going sky high, The Bloodlines presentation, to Solo going nuts with a chair, the segment ended with those dastardly bastards standing over KO, after they had just put him through the announcers table. I liked this.
Aew Collision
Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta vs Ftr
I loved this opening match, from. Claudio and Yuta doing the crab dance on their entrance, to. Both Dax and Claudio, showed each other some bold man love. Cash and Wheeler had a mini match, within the match. Dax, and. Claudio had a double submission stairdown, that turned into a slapfest. The physicality was on par here, the near falls were well timed, as the match found an easy groove. However, when Cash had the match won, the time limit ran out. Dax took to the mic, and asked for 5 more minutes, but then, out came Brandon Cutler who informed us of the match contract, which stated that the match was given twenty minutes, and not twenty five. Ftr then took care of him with a shatter machine, after. Claudio gave him a big swing. Claudio tells them. If they want to run it back, The Bcc members will happily take the fight. Wembley maybe?
Kyle O'reilly Segment
Kyle O'reilly had his backstage segment Interrupted by. Roderick Strong. This was uneventful.
Kris Statlander vs Robyn Renegade
This. Was over before it could begin, and it was a waste of time. Statlander got the win, and that no good Stokeley Hathaway announnced that Statlander, will be entering the Owen Cup Tournament via a love letter. Aagh.
Dustin Rhodes vs Johnny TV
When I saw the match graphic for this. I didn't think that I would enjoy it, but like most things in life, I was wrong, because I enjoyed this, Taya Valkyrye looked like she wanted to call Tony Khans hr department, after Dustin wouldn't leave her alone, she then had a smooch with Johnny, whilst her foot was sandwiched between Dustin, and the steel steps. The physicality here was decent, but nothing special. Dustin got the win, and then cut the promo of his life. I loved all of this promo, from calling out Jack perry, to honouring his late dad. This. Was. A viscerile shot to the system. Jack will face Dustin this wednesday on Dynamite. A certain son of a plumber is looking down on Dustin smiling. Gone, but never forgotten. RIP Dusty Rhodes, nine years has gone so fast.
Zac Sabre Jnr Segment
Zac Sabre Jnr called Orange Cassidy for a match at Forbidden Door, wait hang on, that doesn't sound right does it. Zac Sabre called out f****** Orange Bollocks, for a match at Forbidden Door. That's better.
The Premier athletes vs some Local Jobbers
I'm not trying to be rude, i've forgotten the names of who the Premier Athletes were facing, but that doesn't matter because they got the win, and made me feel guilty, because i'd just polished off a large pack of Maryland cookies. Samoa Joe, and. Hook later on decked the group. In a victory for crisps lovers everywhere. Next time I eat a more to share bag of Walkers Crinkle Cut Cheese and Onion, I will think of you lads. As you can I like crisps, and Smart Mark Sterling of course.
Scorpio Sky Segment
The only thing that I took away from segment, is that Scorpio Sky will be there for me, when the rain starts to poor, like he's been there before. I wonder what belt he's putting his sights on, please not the TNT Championship, because i've not recovered from this past escalades against Sammy Guervara, because no one wants that again. Am I the only person that thinks that Dan Lambert is like the candyman, because if you say his name three times, he just shows up. Now that's what I call a Nightmare.
Timeless Toni Storm vs Lady Frost
This. Was over before it could begin, the match was ok, but nothing special. Toni got the win, and then demanded that her adopted daughter Marieh May, be entered into the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. She acted like a proud parent on the side of a football pitch, on a Sunday Morning.
Dante Martin and Lee Moriarty Segment
Just an early prediction, this match is going to slap. Ok that's it time to pack up and go home.
Daniel Garcia vs Tate Mayfairs
Daniel Garcia, beat. Tate Mayfairs in a good showing from both men. Tate Mayfairs in Aew, good times.
Kyle O'reilly vs Orange Cassidy
From Cassidy doing the bum shuffle, and Kyle O'reilly showing that imitation is the best form of flattery. This. Was. A physical clinic, being served to the masses. The exchanges were laced in mat wrestling ethics, which made the proceedings fascinating to watch. Their may not have been a lot of story to this match, even with. The Kingdom sat at ringside, but with the talent involved in this match, it didn't matter, because this class. Trent Barretta, and the Damn It Don Callis Family came out, and attacked Cassidy, Kyle tried to make the save, but was also attacked. Kris Statlander shaked hands with Trent, joining the family. Willow Nightingale came out, to check on Cassidy, as the show went off the air.
Overview Of The Weekend
Both tv shows were great, with one show focusing on the art of storytelling, and the other one, keeping the in ring work at a solid pace. With both WWE, and. Aew having PLE, and. PPV's events coming up, on the back of this weekend, roll on. Clash At The Castle. Money In The Bank. Forbidden Door, and of course the mighty All In at Wembley, strap yourselves in, because this summer is going to eventful.
Both this weekends shows are a solid 8/10.
