AEW Christmas Collision 22.12.2024.

 Intro

It's Christmas, and after i've written this. I'm going to be sitting back with a beer in my hand, because this has been a great year for me, from me publishing my work for the first time, hanging out with my friend Dave at AEW All In, with his partner Kim, and his brother in Law Rich. And there was the time I got scissored by a man called Daddyass. I think it's been a good year, and with that said, thank you to everyone who's checked out the blog, and here's to a great 2025. Things are going to get interesting. This will be my last review of the year.

Costco Guys Are All Elite.

The Costco Guys kicked off the show, running everything down with Ian Riccabani. Later on in the evening they had a promo dual against Chris Jericho, and his Learning Tree. Shout out to Anthony Bowens, for sticking up for these Chicken Bake/ Double Chunk Chocolate Chip Cookies loving guys. I liked this.

Will Osperay vs Ricochet Continental Classic.

From Ricochet telling Will in a non subtle way, that he stinks, the excellent physicality, and chemistry, that both men showed, to it's lofi pace, that allowed the match to have plenty of time to breathe. The near falls blended perfectly with the in-ring work, as both mens movesets were made to be the centrepiece. Ricochet got the win. I liked this.

Adam Cole And MJF Segment.

I loved this segment, both sides of this were a fascinating watch, from Max's side dealing with the past. Dentistry, and sad truths, to. Cole replying by insulting his fake hair, hiring his girlfriend, and stating that he's nothing like Max. They both took shots at each other, that reverbarated back and forth with great effects, that led to the final exchange, that saw Max say the truth, he never cared about Adam, because all he wanted was his championship, and at worlds end, he's going to bring Adams world to an end. A fight broke out to end the segment.

Kris Statlander Segment And Match Against Penelope Ford.

Kris Statlander called out Mercedes Mone, for another Match for her TBS Championships, she went on to beat Penelope Ford in a flat TV Match, and then Mercedes came out, and accepted her challenge. This. Was. What it was.

Orange cassidy Segment.

Orange Cassidy, told Lexi Nair that he wants help, when it comes to eliminating Jon Moxley from AEW.

Harley Cameron Segment.

Harley Cameron continued her campaign to torture my ears, with AEW's Christmas ad. Please make it stop.

Toni Storm Segment.

Toni Storm, had a fan girl moment, when she met Deonna Purazzo, and. Taya Valkyrie. to the point that she now has a Match against on this weeks Dynamite.

Continental Classic Shelton Benjamin vs Daniel Garcia.

I liked this, from it's quick pace, that caught me off guard, which allowed my mind to expand, because this was energetic barn-burner. Garcia got the win via roll up. The Hurt Syndicate then attacked Danny in the aftermath. Mark Briscoe, and. Swerve Strickland, then came out to make the save. Swerve said to Bobby that he said he was  going to catch him, by the end of the year, and this all happened after the rest of the AEW locker room, came out to make the save.

Mark Briscoe vs The Beast Mortas Continental Classic.

Mark Briscoe, beat. The Beast Mortas, in what was a solid outing, and a decent TV Match.

Julia Hart Segment.

I get the feeling that Julia Hart is looking forward to her Match against Jamie Hayter, on the 1st of January.

Thunder Rosa And Marieh May Fight

Now I like Marieh May, and I like Thunder Rosa, but which one is better, there's only one way to find out. Fiiiiiiiigggggghhhht. Alex Mahvez didn't know what to do with himself.

Claudio Castagnoli vs Darby Allin Continental Classic.

I liked this. From Darby The Daredevil, chucking himself off the top of the stage scaffolding. Claudio giving Darby travel sickness, with that spin, and having some fun with the steel steps. The visceral physicality from start to finish, was great, and it helped shape how the Match would take shape. Claudio, beat. Darby, when Brass knucks were introduced. Osperay came out, and chased off Claudio, as the broadcast came to an end.

Overview Of AEW Christmas Collision.

I liked this broadcast. The overshadowing arch of the Hammerstein Ballroom, made for a great treat, as the fans fed of the action, that was taking place, and the promos made for a nice side dish.

AEW Christmas Collision is a solid 8/10.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Review 21.12.2024

Intro.

The New Year is already starting to look exciting. Monday Night Raw on Netflix. AEW Dynamite simulcast, on both TBS, and. HBO Max in the states, and of course. The return of Kenny Omega. Say it with me everyone. Sometimes it's good to be a wrestling fan.

Superstars Seen Showing Up.

Bianca Belair. Naomi. The Motorcity Machine Gunns, and Nia Jax, and. Candace Lerae, were all seen showing up to the arena, ahead of their respective Matches.

Temu Bloodline And 6 Man Tag Match.

I liked this. Solo and his not so merry crew came out, and for the first time it looked like Solo, was ignoring the boos, as the chant of OTC rang around the arena in Conneticut. He put over the level of his Match against Roman, on the 6th of January, all whilst he was getting booed out of the building. The main selling point of this Promo was to put over the conflict of Tribal, and that was achieved here, because after January 6th. Solo will still be our Tribal Chief, and. The Head Of The Table. After a failed Acknowledgement from the fans. Drew Mcintyre came out, and asks Solo. Was he happy, after last weeks beatdown on Jimmy? and does Solo ever think about drew, to which he just shook his head. Drew was clearly holding back anger, as he talked about attacking those that wronged him, whilst holding back the urge to not want to kill Solo. Drew said that he's going to continue to go through all of the OG Bloodline members, because it's the best way to handle business. Jimmy came out to attack Drew with a crutch, but Drew scarpered, as. LA Knight. Apollo Crews, and. Andrade came out for their 6 Man Tag Match with The Bloodline. This 6 Man Tag, resembled a small lofi barn burner, that turned into a solid TV Match, that allowed all six men to have energetic bursts, which sold the physicality. Solo got the win for his crew, when he got Crews all alone. Spinning Solo, and a spike, and that was all she wrote.

The Motorcity Machine Gunns Segment.

Alex Shelley, said that he wanted to get his hands on Johnny Gargano. This made Ciampa, and. Gargano wet themselves with laughter.

Chelsea Green Celebration.

Byron Saxton interviewed Chelsea Green, about her United States Championship win. In Pre-recorded footage, from after last weeks. Saturday Nights Main Event. I think this was a great piece of business, and by the sounds of it, so did she, and. Piper Niven.

Kevin Owens Segment.

Kevin Owens then did his best Gene Schnitsky impersonation, and said that what happened to Cody Rhodes, wasn't his fault, and put the blame on the fans, and the company executives.

Grayson Waller Effect With Braun Strowman.

I didn't like this, from Braun Strowman coming out dressed up like Santa Claus, to Waller insulting fans calling them poor, to this badly scripted segment becoming a promotrain, when Carmelo Hayes came out, all of this was unfanny, and boring. And the Match that Carmelo had against Braun, was nothing short of bad,  with a dodgy finish. Carmelo then caught up with Braun later on, after Braun bumped into Legado Delfantasma, and. Pretty Deadly, and attacked him with a steelchair.

Tiffany Stratton Segment.

Candace Lerae, then did her best Wayne Campbell Impersonation, and denied Tiffany Stratton from coming out to ringside. No Ringside access denied.

Alex Shelley

Johnny Gargano, beat. Alex Shelley in tame Match, that failed in its execution. Gargano won by roll up.

Bianca Belair And Naomi vs Nia Jax And Candace Lerae WWE Womens Tag Team Championship Match.

I liked this. It did what it said on the tin. The Match was a fun experience, that came from a lofi start. And turned into a barn burner. Naomi, and Bianca got the win, and Tiffany had another failed Cash in attempt.

Overview Of WWE Friday Night Smackdown.

I enjoyed this weeks Friday Night Smackdown. The in-ring work was solid, however the promos were a sad stalemate, of pre-recorded shows.

This weeks Friday Night Smackdown is a decent 7/10.

My Top 5 John Cena Matches.

Intro.

Ok were is he, no guys i'm being serious I can't see him. Agh yes. Mr John Cena. I understand that not everyone likes him, but personally I like him, he's one of the best Promo's in the business, and by all accounts, he's one of the nicest people in the business, so I decided to give you guys, a top 5 list to do with the invisible man.

5 John Cena vs Edge TLC Match WWE Championship Unforgiven 2006.

Toronto, at this point, had Cheered Edge, and in equal measure, booed him out of the building, but on this night, the fans were split down the middle, and it helped amplify, what was an already great Match.

4 John Cena vs Kevin Owens United States Championship Open Challenge.

This. Is. How you make a new star. The story behind this Match, is genuinely heartwarming, and great to see. John made KO on this night. The look on KO's sons face said everything.

3 John Cena vs Edge Summerslam 2006.

I love this Match, and it's build. Edge's heel run, up against John's babyface niceness. This. Was perfect. The Match had a great flow to it, and both men gave everything, in order to create magic. What can I say, parent slapping is funny, if it doesn't effect you.

2 John Cena vs Brock Lesnar Extreme Rules 2012.

This Match, was the perfect example, of how pure dominance, and a fighting attitude, can produce the goods. I understand that Brock nowadays, along with his future is persona nongrata, but I still love this Match, I'm not condoning what Brock, may, or may not have done, in anyway. I just feel these guys brought out the best in each other.

1 John Cena vs Cm Punk Money In The Bank 2011.

This. Is. A bonafide 5 star classic, from the outlaying of the storyline, being played out on TV, to the outcome of the Match, that played out in Chicago. This. Was Perfect.

My Top 5 Takeaways From Monday Night Raw.

5 The Judgement Day Have Run Their Course.

No intro guys, so I'm going to get to the good stuff. I'm done with The Judgement Day. The act has became stale, and beyond repair, in my opinion. The Tag Belts changing hands to the War Raiders just proves my point.

4 Rhea Ripley needs A Good 2025.

Rhea Ripley hasn't had the best year inbetween the ropes, in my opinion, and the finger of blame needs to be pointed at the booking. In 2025 I want to see her break free of the Liv Morgan trap, that she has been placed in since the summer.

3 Tribal Combat Is Going To Rule.

I have no words, other than this Match is going to rule, on a major level. Hurry up January 6th.

2 Cm Punk vs Seth Rollins.

Cm Punk vs Seth Rollins. Just hurry up January 6th, because I need this Match in my life.

1 Netflix.

Raw on Netflix. I can't wait for this broadcast. It looks stacked, and I can't wait to see the drama unfold.

AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash 2024 Review.

 Intro.

This isn't going to be much of an intro, because it's going to read like a thank you. This year has been filled with some great memories, and moments that I won't forget, and 2025 is shaping up to be even bigger. Ads. Shows, and all round good times. This is going to be my last Dynamite review of the year. So with that said. I say roll 2025. Also one other Thing my Top 5 Takeaways From Monday Night Raw, is coming later today. Sorry for the delay. This is due to fact that I was feeling rundown. But I'm better now.

Renee Paquette Interviews Orange Cassidy, And Jay White.

Renee Paquette managed to a get a few words, with. Orange Cassidy, and. Jay White. White put over the fact that he's only interested in the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, and dolesn't rely on foes like Hangman Adam Page, this pissed off Page, who then attacked white, all whilst Cassidy just stood there thinking, has my life really come to this. Osperay and Darby then gave their thoughts ahead of their Continental Classic Match, in the style of an old school WWF promo. Which was a nice touch.

Womens TBS Championship Match Anna Jay vs Mercedes Mone.

I liked this. The Match had a solid flow, and a sense of personality, once the fans got involved. The physicality, and the Match flow was a delight. Mone retained her title, whilst Kris Statlander just watched on.

FTR Segment.

FTR challenged The Deathriders, to a Match at Fight For The Fallen on the 1st of January, whislt also hinting at a return of a rated r superstar.

MJF Segment.

I loved this. MJF is back to his best, insulting local sports teams, singing christmas songs, and giving to charity. The Adam Cole Charity. He also took time to break my heart, and my illusions about Christmas. ( Santa is real ) Cole showed up on the big screen, with help from The Kingdom, and asked Max one question. Has he had his ass kicked. Adam showed up behind Max, and attacked him. This feud needed a good week, and it got one.

Jamie Hayter Segment.

Jamie Hayter, challenged Julia Hart to a Match for Dynamite Fight For The Fallen.

Kenny Omega Segment.

AEW then aired a vingnette for the Return of one Kenny Omega. I can't wait for this.

Christian Cage And Nick Wayne vs Hook And Shibata.

I didn't like this. I thought the Match fell flat, and it never recovered. Cage helped his son get the win, after planting him on both, Hook, and. Shibata, after he gave Hook, his killswitch finisher. This fell into the realm of predictability.

Jericho In The Big City.

Chris Jericho in the big city, well at least that Pizza, and the giant Pretzel looked amazing.

Bandido Segment.

Bandido is returning, and at this point I was thinking, just get on with it AEW.

Harley Cameron Segment.

Harley Cameron, then became an advert for AEWshop, by singing the twelve days of Christmas. I'm now not going to be buying from this site. Thanks Harley.

Marieh May Segment.

Marieh May, called out Thunder Rosa, ahead of their Tijuanna Street Fight, at Worlds End.

Ricochet Segment. Shelton Benjamin vs The Beast Mortas Continental Classic.

Ahead of his Match, against Will Osperay, on this Saturday's Collision. Tony Schiavone tried to get a word with Ricochet in the ring, but this fell apart, because The Syndicate came out, they wasted no time in telling Ricochet, that they have to time for him. MVP ripped up the card that he gave him, and called him a kiss ass. Ricochet then left the ring, and had a meeting with Swerve Strickland Backstage. I'm not sure what to make of this. Shelton Benjamin, then beat The Beast Mortas, in a solid Continental Classic TV Match. That I liked.

Will Osperay vs Darby Allin Continental Classic.

I loved this. From the solid work rate, and all round fantastic in-ring work, that allowed the Match to have time to breathe, and the near falls were excellent, plus after that Nasty Apron bump. I'm convinced that Darby Allin has no back. Darby got the win, after two coffin drops. This. Was an excellent TV Match.

Portrait Of A Rockstar.

Toni Storm has no idea who she is, and RJ City just looked purplexed. I loved this.

Moxley. Pac, and. Yuta vs. Hangman Adam Page. Orange Cassidy, and. Jay White.

I liked this. The Match told a cohesive storyline, along the line of, how will they coexist, which would see Hangman walk out, and get Moxley all alone on his return. The Matches within the Match, were also a fitting contrast, that made sense to the Match, but the story became their undoing, allowing Mox to get the win, by Roll up on Cassidy.

Overview Of AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash 2024.

This. Was. A great way to get me hyped for the festive season. The action was great, and promos verged on being sensational.

This Years AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash is a solid 9/10.

 It's Time To Get Personal.

Thank You.

This has been a rewarding, but challenging year. When I started to write this piece. I took a look at how many views my blog this year. 2.666 have checked it out, and even though I know it's not a big amount. I will be forever greatful to you guys who have checked me out so far.

Expansion.

This year. I tried to expand my blog Extremewrestlingreviews1.blogspot.com, with varying results. I started to use X, and I got some decent traction, however I wasn't pleased with the facebook traction. I got it wrong with Facebook, because I put way two much out there, to the point that it was considered Spamming. This. Was never my intention. I will be going back to the platform, at some point next year. However, there will be some changes, the main reviews, will go out on that platform, but that's it, the rest will go on X, and my blog. Next year I will be sorting out my Advertising, and I can't wait to share my ideas with you guys.

2025 Leeeeetttts Goooooooooo.

Next year is going to a big year for me, and the blog, and it will start with AEW Wrestle Dynasty on the 5th of January. Thank you for a great year.

My Top 5 Takeaways From WWE Saturday Night Main Event.

   Intro.

I don't know if you guys have picked up on this, but, I love a good bit of nostalgia. From watching re runs of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, to taking a trip down memory lane with Pro Wrestling. There's just nothing better, than feeling young, when you're 37 years old. This past weekends WWE Saturday Night Main Event did just that. I took me back to a time that was altogether simpler. And judging by the fan responses. I wasn't alone.

5 Jesse The Body Ventura.

Just hearing this mans voice on commentary, felt like a warm blanket in the cold of winter. It was nice to have a shade of the old, mixed in with the new, and his heel shtick alongside both Michael Cole, and Pat Mcafe, to me, was a delight.

4 The 1980's Feels.

Just looking at the set up for this show when it went live on Youtube, over here in the UK, gave me the same 1980's overload I would get, when watching a film like The Never Ending Story, because it delivered all of the 1980's feels, from it's look alone.

3 KO And Cody Rhodes Must Continue.

I don't know were you can go with this storyline after this. I think it's going to the debut on Netflix, and that's it, because if it goes on any further, WWE could sour what they've created.

2 Legends Used In The Right Way.

Koko Beware. Jimmy Hart, and. Greg The Hammer Valentine, were all used in the right way, sat at ringside, having a lovely time.

1 Chelsea Green Getting Her Flowers.

I have been a fan of this lady since her days in TNA/Impact Wrestling, even though I haven't always liked the way she has been booked. Having her become the 1st ever Womens Intercontinental Champion is a great piece of business, and is testement to the saying, that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything.

AEW Dynamite Review.

   Intro.

With the incoming venture into smaller venues, coming within the next few weeks. I'm starting to feel a tad more optimistic, about the direction of the company, and were their heading. It's like what Bob Dylan once said. Oh these times they are a changing. And it's a good thing all round.

Moxley And Pac vs Jay White And Orange Cassidy.

I liked this. The Match was a strong storybuilt stroke of genius, with good physicality, and superb exchanges. The Matches within the Match, made for fascinating viewing. However all of this was undone, when Hangman Adam Page attacked Moxley, and the Match was thrown out. Christian Cage who was an on looker, for this Match didn't look to pleased, as a brawl ensued. Mox then said via a promo, that there will be a Fatal 4 Way Match at Worlds End for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Between him. Hangman Adam Page. Orange Cassidy, and. Jay White. Christian then cut a personal promo from his box, and was attacked by Hook. The attack segment was class, but bringing up Jon's addiction issues, to me was uncalled for. Addiction shouldn't be poked fun at as a way to garner cheap heat.

Bandido Segment.

Bandido is coming back, and look kids he's kicking major arse. I like these teases.

Continental Classic Will Osperay vs Claudio Castagnoli.

I liked this. It was by far the best Continental Classic Match on the card. Claudios style of physical manipulation, vs Wills fast paced mobility, made for a great study in contrast, as this brought out the best in both men. Will got the win via a roll up from a jacknife powerbomb position, and this pissed off Claudio, who tried to attack Will in the aftermath. Darby made the save. Will vs Darby next week. Yes please.

Matt Cardona Segment.

Renee Paquette had a few words with Matt cardona, who said that he can't wait to face Chris Jericho, at. ROH Final Battle. Jericho counteracted this later on, by saying that he's going to slam onto a Ninja Turtle, because there hero's in a half shell. I would personally use a Biker Mice From Mars toy instead.

Adam Cole vs Kyle O'reilly.

These two needed a good night, and they failed at it. The Match was a slow and sluggish borefest, that the fans didn't come alive for until the end, when MJF made a cameo. This helped Cole get the win. I didn't like this.

FTR Segment.

FTR are stand up guys, they highlighted Fight For The Fallen on January 1st, and challenged The Deathriders to a conversation on Collision.

Darby Allin Segment.

Darby Allin had a backstage chat with Tony Schiavone, and this was excellent, he put over the importance of AEW being around, and how his thoughts don't counteract with Moxley's.

Ricochet vs Brody King Continental Classic.

I liked this, even though I don't think Ricochet has it the ground running in AEW. He got the win, in what was a solid Match.

Private Party Segment.

Private Party then booked Action Andretti, and Lio Rush, in a Match against Top Flight, and the winner will face the champs at a later date.

Mina Shirakawa vs Marieh May AEW Womens Championship.

I had a great time watching this at 8.30am, before I went to my day job. The sight of Thunder Rosa, and her ever changing signs, made me laugh, whilst the match was performed with solid fluidity, that allowed the near falls to fit in snuggly. May, retained her championship, and then it happened. Toni Storm came out, in her rockstar get up. She basked in the fans, as the tears came to her eyes.

Overview Of AEW Dynamite.

This. Is the AEW that I know and love. The in-ring work went from solid, to great, and the promos were a lot of fun.

This years AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming is a solid 8/10.

      My Top 5 Smackdown Moments.

     Intro.

In 1990 the WWF ventured further up in the TV landscape, by adding a second show to its weekly arsenal. Smackdown aired on a Thursday night on UPN, and a couple of days later over here on sky sports. I had to watch at my friends house, because my family couldn't afford sky TV, I have great memories of watching this show, so here are some of my favourite moments.

5 The Emergence Of The Tribal.

This. Was glorious. And a fresh reminder, that long lasting storytelling, can take the viewer on a journey, that can last a longtime. I acknowledge you Roman.

4. Edge vs Eddie Guererro.

This. Rivalry  was something special, some connections are made, some forced, and some are made naturally. This. Was the latter, and it was awesome.

3 Big Show And Brock Lesnar Destroying A Ring.

Two men caused a wrestling ring to implode, and it worked, because it was unpredictable. I have no words.

2 Mick Foley Loses It As The Commisioner.

Mick Foley, put. The Undertaker. The Rock. HHH. Stone Cold Steve Austin. Kurt Angle, and. Rikishi, in a Hell In A Cell Match, because he'd had enough of the grief, yeah that's right you tell'em Mick.

1 Stone Cold Steve Austin Blows Up The DX Express Bus.

It was the year 2000. Britney Spears was wrecking the charts. Slipknot were annoying parents, and scaring kids, and DX were hunting down Stone Cold Steve Austin. And when they found him, he blow up their favourite toy, their bus. This was all for the build for Backlash 2000 The Rock vs HHH WWF Championship Match. I loved this. It's one of my favourite WWF segments ever.
