Smacklillision Weekend Round Up 20.1. 21.1 2024

Intro

With the Royal Rumble just six days away, WWE's overall TV product In the build up, to one of It's biggest shows of the year, has been fleeting at best. Over the past few weeks, yes there has been good moments, Like. Cm Punk, and. Drew Mcintyre, having a sensational war of words, to an electrifying return, that has made me rather hungry, but other than It, there TV output, has resembled dry toast, without the peanut butter, and If It read like a school report. It would say. Must do better.

The Bloodline Opening and Contract signing

Roman and his crew, were seen showing up to the arena. And our. Tribal Chief was not in a good mood. After last weeks fiasco, he was here to make this right, he silenced Jimmy, Whilst Solo took on the role of. Bob The Builder, because he could fix it. Solo The Builder, can he fix it, no he can't. This bled Into the contract signing. Nick Aldis over saw the proceedings. Aj styles. LA Knight, and. Randy Orton, all came out, except for. Roman Reigns, so he sent his wiseman. Paul Heyman. Paul undercut Aldis at every corner, telling the Smackdown general manager, that Reigns would not be signing this contract. Because Roman wanted a one on one Match. Aldis threatened to strip reigns, and make the Match a threeway encounter, but all this did, was set off. LA Knight yeeeeeaaaaah. But Aj styles also had something to say, the pair had a pretty predictable promo dual. Whilst Randy just stood their watching. The only thing he was missing was a cold beer, because his demeaner screamed, you guys can fight, i'm alright here, a fight broke out between. Styles and Knight. Randy warned the wiseman, telling him, that he will drop Solo, and he Is coming for Roman. Later on styles told Nick Aldis, that he wanted a Match against LA Knight. Later on Roman was seen, giving his crew a talking to, he made Jimmy like a chump, and Solo look weak. I hated all of this, because yet again WWE have bastardised something, that I used to love, the show long angle. This was absolutely awful.

Legardo Delfantasma vs The Lwo

Legardo Delfantasma beat The Lwo, In a flat and boring TV Match. I don't know what else their is to say.

Pretty Deadly vs Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate

Before I watched this Match On a Saturday afternoon. I was feeling a bit hungry, so I went downstairs and got some. Mr Kippling cakes, out from my cupboard, and after I absolutely devoured those tasty treats. I watched two other tasty treats get wrecked, by. Tyler Bate, and. Butch. But wait, that's not Butch. No. It was Pete Dunne, The Match was a standard affair, with a good dose of good old fashion British physicality, Dunne and Bate got the win, and watching Pretty Deadly think that Pete Dunne wasn't real, gave me real Kane vs The Undertaker vibes, from Wrestlemania 20, Kane vs The Undertaker eeewwwwww. Someone pass me the sick bucket, because holys***, that was dodgy Match

The KO Show with Logan Paul

I liked this segment, from. KO having complete distain for Logan. Logan coming out wearing aviators, looking like Tom Cruise from Top Gun. Logan gaslighting Owens, and giving his reasons for revenge, getting stunned by Kevin, In front of 70.000 people, are you sure their was that many people In attendance Logan, because that Mania was a socially distanced affair, that gave us the gift of, the prat In a poncho Michael Cole. Kevin said that he didn't  remember that, due to the fact that he has stunned loads of people. Kevin went on a passionate tirade, standing his ground, he told Logan that he Is not like. Samy Zayn. Seth Rollins, or Rey Mysterio, because Logan is a joke, that will come to an end at the Royal Rumble, when he beats Logan, for the United States Championship. And to make things easier, he removed the Mel Gidson from his arm. And whilst he did that, Logan punched him, and took him to town, and gave his hand a steel step sandwich. Even though. I can't stand Logan Paul. I can't deny Logans ability, to take on an entire Industry, and come out looking the way he does. He really Is a one of a kind talent. Although I still think Prime, is one of the worst things to come out of the States since. The Disney Channel. If you know, you know.

Kayden Karter and Katana Chance vs Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn 

Kayden Karter and Katana Chance, beat. Alba Fyre, and Isla Dawn, to retain their WWE Womens Tag team Championships. With Damage Ctrl at ringside, Bayley provided some commentary, but that failed to elevate the action. The Kabuki Warriors, then stood tall with the Tag Belts, setting up a Match for next week. I think that this was Damage Ctrl's way of doing there own. Spice Girls Impersonation, from the 1997 Brit Awards. Come and have a go if you think your hard enough, argh yes, a s*** band calling out another s*** band, the Match was awful and gained no response from the fans, and I can't blame them.

Carmelo Hayes segment

Carmelo Hayes was being Interviewed backstage, until he was Interrupted by Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Hayes will face Theory next week. Oh and one other thing. Well done Grayson for defending this Industry. 

Aj Styles vs LA Knight and Solo Sikoa vs Randy Orton

This was a pathetic Waste of time, that was thrown out when. Solo sikoa got Involved, with help from his brother Jimmy, causing what I hate. Dq finishes. Solo then called out Randy for their Match, and It was a cluster f*** of bad booking, shenanigans, and a good awful finish, that saw Randy get the win. Roman came to salavage something from the fallen embers, but It was to late, Roman takes out Orton with a Superman Punch, he goes In for a second, but Orton counters It with an Rko. to send the show off the air. This was a terrible end, to a terrible show.

Aew Collision

Jon Moxley vs Shane Taylor

Jon Moxley beat Shane Taylor in the opening Match, this resembled two bulls banging heads. Even Moxley Isn't a heavyweight, his attitude doubles the size of any heavyweight I can name. In 2015- 2019 I wasn't the biggest fan of ROH, due to its lacklustre booking structure, but I did like Shane Taylor. His big size and persona made him an ROH standout. The Match was a standard TV affair, that was high on Physicality, but low on storytelling. Mox cut a promo In the aftermath, saying, he Is pissed off beyond belief, and hungry beyond belief. heeding a warning to anyone In the back, Including  his own team The Bcc, If you want to face me, then step In this ring, and Keep up. And at that point I started singing. We love you Moxley, we do. We love you Moxley, we do. We love you Moxley, we do. Oh Jon Moxley we love you. This man Is a treassure, and needs to be treated like one.

The Cope Ope Adam Copeland vs Dante Martin

I have said, all I need to say about Aadm Copelands open Challenge, but this, so far was the best yet, from both men balancing each others skills perfectly, the pace being worked at a moderate to fast rate, to. Copeland getting the win with his grindhouse Submission. Copeland then took to the mic afterwards, and called Christian Cage, Copeland and said that every week, he Is going to work harder, everytime he steps In the ring, so he can bring the TNT Championship, back to TNT. Ok I'm hungry, so I'm off to Mcdonalds, to get a happy meal. Later Private Party, challenged. Top Flight to a rematch, which was duely accepted.

Lexi Nair Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castag noli segment

Bryan Danielson, and. Claudio Castagnoli, were being Interviewed backstage. Both told us about how they pride themselves, on getting better, and better, year In year out, whilst. Eddie Kingston and Ortiz, have been In the same lane for years. Kingston and Ortiz answered this back perfectly, later on. Because like all good families, they patch things after they fight, I also think that. Eddie Kingston, is not a big Elton John fan, neither am I. I'm more into. Metallica. Slayer, and if i'm really in the mood to punch someone in the face. Slipknot.

Thunder Rosa vs Queen Aminata

Thunder Rosa beat Queen Aminata in a standard TV Match, that offered absolutely nothing.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang Formation

Bullet Club Gold then came out, to celebrate their title win from last Wednesday. This segment was a lot of fun, from the cardboard cut out of Juice Robinson. To the Acclaimed coming, and forming a super faction with, the. Bang Bang Gang, called. The Bang Bang Scissor Gang. I loved all of this. Let the odd group comedy begin.

Timeless Toni Storm segment

Timeless Toni Storm, agreed to have a face to face, with. deonna Purrazzo this wednesday on Dynamite. This should be Interesting.

Daniel Garcia vs Bubby Mathews

This Match was easily the Match of the night, by far. from. Ftr watching at ringside. Daddy Magic on commentary, a near promised dance off, to the physicality being performed at an excellent level, from a suplex to the outside that caused a near count out, Bubby giving Garcia a sickening DDT, to Daniel taking notes from the Bret Hart handbook, on how to work over someones knees, Including a sharpshooter, which added to the fun. Daniel got the win, by roll up. And then, all hell broke loose, Wrestlers fighting wrestlers. Referees coming out to seperate the fight. Dax had enough, so next week, their will be a tag team elimination cage Match. Ftr vs The House Of Black.

Roderick Strong vs Matt Sydal

Roderick Strong, beat. Matt Sydal in a fun, but pointless Match, with his end of heartache finisher.

Bryan Danielson and Claudio vs Eddie Kingston and Ortiz

Bryan Danielson, and. Claudio Castagnoli, beat. Eddie Kingston, and. Ortiz, in a fun TV main event. From the phasing out process in the early going. to the physicality, being performed at a high level, to. Kingston Chopping Claudio, this was a well thought main event, with great energetic bursts. Danielson got his team the win, with a Bopsycho knee. I loved this main event. It was a good end, to a great show.

Overview Of The Weekend

Both shows this weekend were a study in contrast, on one side, you have WWE furthering Its decline of one of its flagship shows, and on the other, you have Aew, a company that is figuring out how bring back fans, who may have turned off, with one show, delivering a week, and, pathetic through story, whilst the other, showcased their wrestling talent, and giving something that fans will want to see next weekend.

This weeks Friday Night Smackdown is a disapointing 3/10

And Aew Collision is a solid 8/10
