WWE Monday Night Raw Review 20.2.2024
Intro
Over the past few years, I haven't tried to hide the fact, that this time of year, is one of my favourites, from not having an excuse for stuffing my face, with chocolate mini eggs, to the evenings getting a bit lighter. But there is one over arching thing I love about this time of year. The Rd to Wrestlemania, from epic sit down interviews of the past, feuds you never thought you would see come to an conclussion, on 2 or 3 occasions. Match of the year contenders unfold before our eyes, but most importantly, it's all about the guessing game, who's facing who, and who will win what, these are questions all fans think of, whether you're sitting watching at home, or attending the show of shows in person, WWE at this time of year, knows how to keep you guessing.
Drew Mcintyre vs Cody Rhodes
I loved this opening Match, from the fans in the building, being on top form, the good physicality, blending in with the solid near falls. This Match was awesome. It was given plenty of time to breathe. Both men doug in deep to produce an excellent starter. Jimmy Uso, and. Solo Sikoa came and caused trouble. Solo, gave Cody a samoan Spike, this allowed Drew to hit Cody with a claymore for the win. This played the story along nicely, delving into. Cody, and. Drews history with The Bloodline. This. Was aperfect to kick of Raw. Seth paid Cody a visit, whilst he was getting checked out by a dr, and so it Started ticking. Cody's mind that is.
Andrade El Idolo segment
I see that WWE are still trying to us to forget about. Andrades Aew run, see no can do, because him wanting to buy Darby Allin, is forever etched in my mind.
Last Chance Battle Royal
A returning. Raquel Rodriguez won a last chance Battle royal, to book herself a place in the womens Elimination Chamber Match. I hate TV Battle Royals, and I have to say, this falls into that category, this felt predictable and dumb.
Jey Uso showing up
Jey Uso was seen showing up to the arena, doing his best Jay Z impersonation, by reintroducing himself. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.
Rhea and Nia sitdown segment
I wasn't sure what to make of this segment, I see what WWE were going, but I don't think either women came across very well, from the predictable dual screen effect, to the not so great writing. Rhea spoke about her history, and Nia shot it down, by saying that she twice the size of Rhea, and she will make her, go home crying to her Mami. I didn't like this at all.
Trustline Jackie Redmond and R Truth
Jackie Redmond embraced her Inner reporter, and did an interview with R Truth, who embraced his inner prat in a puncho look from Wrestlemania 37. This had me howling with laughter, this was perfect comedy. R Truth talked about the humiliation he felt, at the hands of The Judgement Day, to being saved by DX ( it's really DIY ). I loved this. He and. The Miz, with. DIY, would go on to lose at 8 man tag Match, later on in the evening against. The Judgement Day.
Michael Chandler segment
UFC Fighter Michael Chandler showed up, he took the mic from Samantha Irvine, and proceeded to call out. Connor Mcgreggor. Yep that UFC Co event deal is starting to take shape.
Sami Zayn segment
Sami Zayn then spoke to to Jackie Redmond, he is unsure of his path to Wrestlemania, this has become an obseesion with Sami, but he feels something in this gut, that he will get their. Shinsuke Nakamura then answered this back later on, the two will face each other next week.
Becky Lynch segment
This felt more like a promotrain, because it was, and a boring, pathetic one at that. I'm not going to say much about this, because f*** me this was bad. I hated this. It was formulaic, and a tired concept. Enough said.
Ivar vs Chad Gable
I liked all of this. I'm not the biggest Ivar fan, but this was a lot of fun. Chad got the win, after a moonsault, which lead into ankle lock. Chad Gable needs to dethrone Gunther for the IC Championship at Mania.
New Day announcement
The New announce that they will be facing Imperium next week in a streetfight. This should be fun.
Gunther vs Jey Uso IC Championship
This. Was excellent, from the fluid physicality. Gunther getting back dropped on the announcers table. Jey kicking out of a powerbomb. Jimmy Uso caused a bit of chaos at ringside, ringing the ring bell. Jey then took out security, and his brother, but this was his downfall. Gunther got the pin, and retained his belt. Jimmy then proceeded top batter his brother in the aftermath, as the show went off the air.
Overview of Monday Night Raw
This weeks Raw was an enjoyable show, not a great show, but enjoyable, the matches went from boring to excellent, and the promos followed the same path.
This weeks Raw was a solid 7/10.
