Wrestling film and tv counteractions

    Intro

Phrases and scenes in any form of medium, can at times be over used, but on occasion both, film, and, tv, have been used in Pro Wrestling, whether it's themed tv shows, or film parodies through cosplay, this, to me is something I find interesting as a film fan, so with that said here are some examples.

Rey Mysterio Wrestlemania 25 The Dark Night

Roughly 16 months before Mania 25. In January of 2008, the world woke up to the news that Heath Ledger had passed away, he had finished filming The Dark Night, in which he played The Joker, in christopher Nolans Batman trilogy. This sent shockwaves throughout Hollywood, and the world over, this would start off a chain of events in which critics would call the film cursed, after Morgan Freeman, who played Lucius Fox in the film series, would also go on to be hospilitised, after he had a car accident. Morgan would go on to make a full recovery, whilst the loss of Ledger, is still felt until this very day. Rey Mysterio would go on to pay tribute to Heath Ledger, when he came down to the ring, in gear inspired by The Joker Character, for his match against JBl, this wasn't someone latching onto a popular film, this was someone saying, It's ok for someone to inspire others, even though their gone.

Chucky NXT Halloween Havoc 2021

Agh yes. Chucky. Everyone's favourite foul mouthed Good Guy Doll. Chucky has had an interesting history with Pro Wrestling, from appearing on a WCW PPV, in the early 90's, for the promotion of Childs play 3, a film that was highly controversial here in the UK, when it was sighted in the murder of Jamie Boulger, as being an influence of evil, that forced the film to banned for a period of time on VHS here in the UK. Chucky would also go on to appear on this broadcast of WWE NXT, in the carnation that saw. He Who Shall Not Be Named, and his minion Bruce Pritchard, take full control of, after HHH, had suffered a heart attack. Ok this show wasn't very good if I recall, but seeing everyones Good Guy Doll decide who faces who in Halloween themed matches, was a bit of cheaptrick, because. I would have put him on commentary, instead of Boooker T, so he could piss off Vic Grimes Joseph, did you get The Walking Dead Reference, oh forget it.

Leatherface AEW Fight For The Fallen

What Can I say about this segment other. Karen Jarrett getting chased by Leatherface, well as it turns out not a lot.

Chris Jericho Wrestlemania 25 The wrestler

In the build to his match against Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, at the 25th edition of the show of shows. Chris Jericho would taunt the legends of yesteryear, by saying that all of their old achievements, were just that, old achievements, from the past, that replocated everything that was seen, In Darren Afronofsky's The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke played Randy The Ram Robinson, a down and out Wrestler who was coming to terms with a normal life, after his fame had fleeted. Jericho was chinned by Rourke at the show.

Chris Jericho A Clockwork Orange

Even though. Chris Jericho's run in Tony Khans little promotion that can, has screamed please go away, over the past 18 months, it hasn't always been this way, back in 2019 when signed for the promotion, this started off a resurgence in his career, that had flagged under the WWE banner, his stint in NJPW, was seen as a good move, but it was the 1st episode of AEW's flagship show Dynamite, that he would Debut. The Inner Circle, a roughneck group of villains that echoed aspects of the droogs from A Clockwork Orange, everything from their attitude, to the attraction of gang violence, with Jericho acting like an all seeing eye in the same way, that Malcolm Mcdowells Character Alex delarge did. I loved this, as it had me saying at the time. Viddy well Chris, Viddy well.
