Top 5 Wrestling Matches that Affirmed My Life
Intro
In life, we all go through trials, and tribulations, some have benefits, that help us in our day to day routine, whilst others, can leave us with a hole to fill. Wrestling is no differant, as fans, were all differant, from tastes in music, to liking other tv shows, Whatever gets us through the day, make us who we are, and without that, what do we really have. Wrestling to me is freedom, and these matches are the ones that got my through some bad times in my life.
5 Stadium Stampede 1 AEW Double Or Nothing 2020
This. Match, was conceived at the right time, the world was placed into a shutdown state, due to the pandemic taking a grip on our everyday life. This forced wrestling companies to think outside of the box, with mostly a decent fanfair, but for money this was gold. I was at home on my goverments furlough scheme. I was feeling low, as I started to ponder my life decisions. This. Match had comedy, and great moments. Like Jake Hager, and. Hangman Adam Page, having a bar fight. The many changing characters of Matt Hardy, and of course my favourite moment in wrestling that year. Sammy Guervara getting suplexed across a football field. Cinematic matches, were the thing at the time, that was used to give fans, an extra added deal of intrigue, and in this case AEW succeeded.
4 Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso Clash Of Champions 2020
This, like many matches on this list, came along at the right time, and was delivered at the right time in my life. I had gone back to work just three months before this, and the ramifications of the pandemic, was really hitting home for me. My work life was a mess, and it was starting to have a negative effect on me, and the only thing I had to look forward to was watching wrestling. I felt like I had nothing, and as time went on, nothing went the way that I wanted, then this storyline unfolded before my eyes, and the themes of grooming, and abuse started to give fans something differant, and I loved it. Roman took on the role of Alex Delarge, as he manipulated his own family, for his own gain. The match was just the start, for arguably WWE's biggest ever storyline, that took my heart, and gave me hope for the future.
3 The First Elimination Chamber Match Survivor Series 2002
I'm a man of principles, and I think that Bullying is no laughing matter, as I feel it's had a big impact on teen suicides here in the UK, this match saved my life. After I faced a day of hell at school, back in november of 2002, I was at a friends house, and he picked up on my shift in mood, and that, was when I opened up about, what me and my friends were going through, we sat down to watch that years Survivor Series, as I watched this match unfold, I found myself moved by the outcome, I realised one thing in its aftermath. If I was going to do something stupid, then don't, because there's a way out of the gloom. 22 years later I'm still here, and I owe it to this match.
2 Daniel Bryan vs Batista vs Randy Orton Wrestlemania 30
What can I say about this match, other than it's a reminder of. If you work hard enough, then you can achieve anything, from fans now feeling like they were being listened to, to confetti reigning in a new era, and a life affirming moment. As the confetti rained down in the New Orleans sky, a photo told a thousand stories. Bryan was seen celebrating with Connor Malik, a child who was dying with Cancer, this photo would act as reminder, to hold dear what is close to you, because you never know how long anything in life will last.
1 Bryan Danielson vs Swerve Strickland AEW All In 2024 Career vs Championship
I was in attendence for this event, and this main event. It has given me the drive to continue down this path, Danielsons passion, has become my passion, and I will always be grateful to him for that. Enough said.
