AEW Dynamite Review 14.11.2024.
Intro.
With Full Gear just nine days away, at the time of writing. I have to say I'm fully looking forward to this PPV. I think AEW, even though it finds itself in a state of flux. is currently going through a bit of a, to use a Sci Fiction term, bit of a metamorphis, because they are currently going through changes, that in my mind, i'm enjoying very much, so with that sad I say, let the carnage begin.
Christian Cage And Hangman Adam vs Jay White And Juice Robinson.
I didn't like this, an opener. I liked the fact that it played off the back of LTS, from this Summer, but overall I thought this felt like a make good, from the bad match, that. Cage, and. White had, a few weeks ago, that wasn't very good. Nick Wayne got attacked by Hook, and. Kip Sabian helped his new dad, when he hit juice with, that awful looking version of a filefax, allowing Hangman to hit with his deadeye for the win. Yeah, i'm not sure what to make of this.
Mercedes Mone Segment.
I liked all of this, because it was set up like the reveal of a Hollywood Movie Villain. Mercedes had a go at Camille, for having bad driving skills, and then it happened. Mercedes opened up her big mouth, about. Kris Statlander, and there she stood, she started to Batter Mercedes. Camille tried to save her abusive Boss, but she got taken out as well. Statlander ended up sphering both ladies through a wall. This had me thinking of that time when Eddie kingston mugged off the J.A.S outside, an airport, because this was on sight.
Will Osperay Segment.
There's a recurring theme throughout this broadcast. The Promo duals are the strongest thing on the show, and for my money, this was the best. Will was set to be interviewed by Tony Schiavone, but, instead he called out his old mate. Kyle Fletcher, all of this was awesome, from Will disabling kyles weapon, that he had hidden, the urgentcy of family, to. Kyle trying to escape the shadow of Will Osperay, through The Damn It Don Callis. This led to Kyle challenging Will to a Match at Full Gear. Will accepted, making Kyle feel like he isn't good enough, leading him Kyle to say that, he's going to take everything away from him, Will then said that, he knew he didn't come alone. Lance Archer, and. Brian Cage, came out, but they were met by. Mark davis, and. Powerhouse Hobbs, a massive fight then ensued, that bled into the next match, as Roderick came out, and Takeshita was taken out by Ricochet at the top of the stage.
Roderick Strong vs Lance Archer No Dq. Adam Cole vs Konosuke Takeshita.
I had a lot of fun watching this at 8am in the morning. They thought in the fans, and they thought in the backstage area. The production did a good job to hide AEW's short comings, because this was a well paced fun ride, that saw. The undisputed Kingdom, save their leader from a double Chokeslam, when Brian Cage got involved, and later on Matt Taven was the sacrificial lamd, to the slaughter, when archer chokeslammed him onto a load of Security Guards, this brought forward a great final exchange, that saw Strong get the win, with a big knee. I liked all of this. Takeshista came out, and attacked Roderick. This brought out Adam Cole, and as if by magic, their match was underway. I feel this match benefitted from coming off of the back, of a red hot match. I liked all of this, all but, the finish. Takeshita used the Dynamite Gold Ring, to take out Cole, and get a clean pin, to me this was a cheap way to end a decent match. Cole won't be facing Max, at. Full Gear. It will be Strong instead, this does make booking sense, because Cole vs MJF is a solid go, for Worlds End. Strong took to the mic, at the end of his Match, and said that Max sucks. All whilst Max laughed his ass off.
Bobby Lashley Segment.
Bobby Lashey, said, that he's going to hurt Swerve Strickland, and. MVP showed Renee Paquette how to do her job.
Deathriders Segment.
I loved all of this. Claudio, and. Pac, battered. Jd Drake, and. Mox, and. Marina Shafir, then walked through the fans, and the take over, that wasn't really a take over, begin. Marina took over the camera man position, and Mox went straight to work, and cut one hell of a promo, he said that Orange Cassidy couldn't save Chuck Taylor, and. Wheeler Yuta walked away from him, because he's gravitated towards Mox, he said at Full Gear, he's going to make an example of Cassidy, and brutalise him, because he's the AEW World Heavyweight Champion, and his crew run AEW. Orange cassidy came out, and he and Jon, had a fantastic promo dual. This. Was, a perfect way to examplify the meaning of the championship. Jon then ended things by telling Cassidy, and us at home, to abandon all hope, in the aftermath of their match. Darby Allin then took up the fight, by taking everyone out from the top of an exit, this lead to some mad capers in the car park.
The Learning Tree.
Ishii will face Chris Jericho, in two weeks time, for the ROH Championship. Oh boy, were do I begin with this. I have no other words.
Britt Baker vs Penelope Ford.
Britt Baker, beat. Penelope Ford in a decent TV Match, and Sarena Deeb, then called her out in the aftermath. The crowd was dead for this.
Mina Shirakawa Is Back.
Mina Shirakawa is back, and this pissed off Harley Cameron. Renee Paquette then acted like my mum, when she had seperate me and brother, when we were kids. Tits vs Tits people. It's a thing. ( apparently )
Swerve Strickland vs Lio Rush.
Swerve Strickland, beat. Lio Rush, in a solid TV Match. He then took to the mic, and called out Bobby Lashley for a fight. MVP came out, with Bobby, and said, that if he wants a fight, all he has to is ask, but he needs to take one thing in mind, strength in numbers. Shelton Benjamin then attacked Swerve from behind, and this led to a great beat down. Not even Prince Nana was safe. I liked this. Swerve mate, here's a little tip, say the right name of the town in future.
Jamie Hayter Segment.
Ok what was this. Jamie Hayters segment was infused with Julia Harts return. Ok I guess.
FTR vs Kings Of The Black Throne.
I have mixed feelings about this Match. Malakai Black's NXT throwbacks fell flat, and didn't resonate with me, and i'm an NXT stan. However the later parts, fell into the terroritory of becoming a lofi banger, and it did. The near falls made sense, as they carried the physicality. Brody King won by choking out Dax Harwood.
Overview Of Aew Dynamite.
I liked this weeks Dynamite, but I didn't love it. The fans were dead throughout large parts of the show, and this hampered my viewing experience. Yes there was some good stuff on here that I enjoyed, and like I said earlier I'm looking forward to the PPV, in over nine days, but it feels inconcequential, and unimportant, which is a shame when all is considered.
This weeks Dynamite is 8/10, but only just.
