My Top 5 On Thoughts on UFC 320.
Intro.
This has been an interesting weekend, as I sit here writing this on a Monday Lunchtime. I was due to write this up yesterday morning, but given the fact that I was hungover after watching Parkway Drive at the OVO Wembley Arena on Saturday Night, so I had to push this back. Man Saturday was epic.
5. RIP Arthur Jones.
Over the past week. The UFC was saddened to hear passing of Arthur Jones, the brother of Jon Jones. Arthur was a former NFL player, who passed away at the age of 39. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
4. Joe Pyfer Wow.
This was an excellent way to start the main card. Joe Pyfer looked awesome here, and his submission win over Abus Namagnomedov was a suprise. It was a suprise because You would think that someone with the second name of Namagnomedov would've had a better ground game. Joe made this look easy.
3. Josh Emmett Verbally Taps Out.
Youssef Bulal, made Josh Emmett verbally tap out. This shocked me, because you would'nt expect this from a seasoned fighter. Some fans would argue that this showed a lack of desire, but if you ask me. This shows a fighter knowing when to say when, and Josh shouldn't be slammed for that.
2. Jiri Prochazka Is The No1 Contender For The Light Heavyweight Championship Crown.
This was given the fight of the night honours, and was an excellent war of nutrition, that had me engrosed from the start. This to me wasn't just the fight of the night, because to me both men put forward a solid effort, but it was Jiri who got the win after he caught James Roundtree Jnr with a solid left hook, that rocked him. This allowed Jiri to finish the job by knockout.
1. Main Event, And Co Main.
Both of these fights were a study in contrast. On one side we had the one man dismanting that came from Merab Dvalishvili, as he owned Cory Sandhagen on the ground, on his way to retaining the Bantamweight Championship, whilst Alex Pereira got his belt back, after he knocked out Magamed Ankalaev. Both of these fights delivered, and they were a great way to end the UFC's best PPV of the year.
