My Top 5 Takeaways From UFC Fight Night Des Moines

         Intro.

25 years is a long time for a company to come back to a state, it's a bit like my favourite band Iron Maiden playing the Reading Festival in 1982, and not returning for 23 years, which was the first time I went to the festival. The UFC is no different in this case. This weekend the UFC came back to Des Moines, the last time the company was in this state was all the way back at UFC 27, which took place in the year 2000. Time is a funny thing, and this was a decent showing for the Vegas outlet.

5. If You Hate Him Now.

Mason Jones owned Jeremy Stephens by unanamous decision. I felt bad for Stephens, but if i'm honest, he didn't perform very well in my opinion. Jones was booed on arrival, whilst the loser left the cage like a warrior, when the winner was booed. Local loyalty is a real thing people.

4. The Bantamweight Division Is In Good Shape.

Serhiy Sidey, beat. Cameron Smotherman in a strong performance. This was a starting off point for a fantastic night for the 135 pound weightclass.

3. Montel Jackson.

Montel Jackson proved that he's slowly becoming the man, when he beat Daniel Marcos by Unanamous decision. Now what did I say about the Bantamweight Division.

2. Daniel Rodriguez Oh My.

Daniel Rodriguez, the knock out artist, and self proclaimed rapper, knocked out Santiago Ponzibo in devastating fashion. In the words of Mick Foley, oh my oh my.

1 Cory Sandhagen Is Back Everyone.

Cory Sandhagen, beat. Deveison Figuireido after the Brazilian suffered a nasty knee injury. This in my opinion now puts Cory in the firing line for a title shot at the Bantamweight prize. Well done my guy.
